Is the GBA really to slow? How much Mhz would be needed? Would it be possible if you use the Supercard /M3 ram as a buffer? sorry i'm kinda new to this^^

GBA CPU is a 16.8 MHz ARM7TDMI. Helix MP3 decoder needs 26 MHz to decode a stereo MP3 at 44.1 kHz, provided 57 KiB of zero-wait-state memory is available. This is true on the DS (with its cache) but not on the GBA (which has only 32 KiB of IWRAM). I haven't looked into MP2 though.

Hey would it be possible to encode Mp3s using a Mp3 decoding chip?

one of these http://www.vlsi.fi/datasheets/vs1001.pdf#search=%22VS1001%20datasheet%22

Not integrated into a catridge like Play-yan because I want to use Supercard
but to send the data to the chip using Normal mode of the Linkport and putting the "decoding device" near the GBA so I could use the 2Mbitps like Gbatek says. I just want to know because we currently have some sort of Project at our school and we can get help from specialists.

How much quality would you need to sacrafice to get it run on the GBA? More than mono 44.1 kHz, I assume.
