Helixe Studios, a division of THQ, is looking for an experienced Game Designer for a Lead position on our next Nintendo DS? title. In this role you?ll contribute to the game product, design process and Helixe Studios at a high level. You?ll be the focal point for developing the game?s vision and overall design.
This is a full-time position, on-site in Burlington, MA, just minutes north of the dynamic ?hub? city of Boston. Helixe Studios operates much like a small, independent studio providing a casual and informal work environment. Responsibilities:
?Assume responsibility for and maintain a complete overview of the game design
?Establish and communicate the game vision and design goals, conferring with Project Manager, Tech Lead, and Art Lead on feasibility and impact
?Define and fully understand the gameplay elements and connected systems required to complete the project successfully
?Responsible for creation and maintenance of design documentation
?Delegate design tasks and assign roles to other designers on the project as required
?Provides time estimates and task assumptions to the Project Manager so designers can be scheduled accordingly
?Actively participate in and organize project meetings when required to ensure the design goals are communicated to other disciplines and that their specific needs are met
?Complete design tasks as needed and lead by example
?Ability to learn and master new tools quickly
?Ability to interface with and direct external individuals or groups under contract
?Take personal responsibility for quality and on-time delivery of the game
?Keep current with Industry trends and competitive products
Requirements:
?At least one commercially shipped game title where you served in a senior design role
?College Degree or equivalent industry experience
?Passion for playing games
Pluses:
?Experience with Nintendo platforms
?Game scripting knowledge
?3D level building skills
?Familiarity with 3D Modeling programs (3D Studio Max, Maya)
?Previous work on license-based games
