I've ordered a flash linker on succes-hk, and I received an e-mail from them with my order number and a link to worldpay so that I can pay.
The problem is that after filling the form with my card info and sendinf it, I get a page from worldpay saying "[W331] error, operation declined...".
I've tried many times and it always fails.
Does anyone know why is this happening?

Please help !

Some reasons for W331 errors
Most likely, you screwed up the card number (should be 16 digits), the verification code (for Visa and MC, 3 printed digits on the sig panel), or the expiration date. Less likely, you may have maxed out your credit line.

I didn't put the code verification card as it doesn't seem to be useful (no * near it). Only the required info I've filled.
Anyway, in place of displaying a W331 error message, they should rather explain what the problem is.
What does "max out my credit line" means(I'm not a native english speaker :)?Does it mean that my account is empty?
Thanks for your reply

#7470 - gb_feedback - Wed Jun 18, 2003 1:06 pm

I have had problems caused by typing in the spaces in the card number - or NOT typing in the spaces in the card number...

They did explain to the best of their ability. W331 means "the bank declined the charge". I'm assuming that the bank says it's none of WorldPay's business why the charge was declined; otherwise, it would open a door for account thieves, as brute-forcing one field at a time is much faster than brute-forcing an entire web form. Contact your bank if you need more help.

And in general, don't use spaces in card numbers submitted over a web form.

I had the same problem at Lik Sang, but they kindly explained me the problem; my bank refused to let WorldPay withdraw the money. Anyway, contacting the bank didn't work because they didn't know of it and wouldn't even find out. Then I had to make a expensive bank transfer insteed, but that worked fine, though! ;)

If your bank won't do anything to help you get a legitimate payment through, I'd say that unless you live in an area with a monopoly bank (such as Terre Haute, IN), you should look into switching banks.

Everything is fine now, my flash linker kit has been shipped, it was a bank problem...
Well, hope it will arrive soon, can't wait to test code on hardware!

By the way, after this little trouble I had, I've emailed success for explanations and they answered me the same day. Pretty cool, isn't it?

#8012 - fs8gbe - Mon Jun 30, 2003 7:13 pm

well, i ordered from them on the 26th of june, in the evening for the ez flash kit. it did say on the site that it wouldn't be available until the 28th, so that is fine. i go to check the site out today, and my order is still showing processing (no problem, it has only been 1 business day) but the scary thing is that they took the ez flash kits off of their website, or atleast i cannot find them anywhere. i just sent them an email so hopefully i am being too paranoid (usually the case). fyi, really digging this dev site...

#9332 - nospamprl - Fri Aug 01, 2003 7:44 pm

Please share what have been your experience with US costoms when ordering from Success.

I'd like to order a Flash2Advance.

Thanks.

#9333 - fs8gbe - Fri Aug 01, 2003 7:51 pm

my experience was very good. i recieved the item only a few days after they shipped it. no extra money was involved other than shipping. the ezfa is a great dev product.

Just a warning to those considering success-hk.com for their GBA cart needs.

Last Monday (Aug 4th) I ordered a total of 6 GBA carts from success-hk.com. When I was paying at WorldPay, my first attempt with my credit card was unsuccessful (got the W331 error). However, my second attempt went through fine, and I received an email receipt from WorldPay (along with a call from my credit card company to make sure the charge was made by me).

All seemed well, and I never received an indication that it was otherwise.

Now this Monday (Aug 11th) I go to their website to find tracking info on my package, only I can't find a valid UPS tracking number (and the order is listed as "Received and to be processing"). So I use the support ticket system to contact them and ask what my tracking number should be. Tuesday I receive a response that my order was never paid for, and that I should send a scan of my credit card or driver's license so they can attempt to charge my credit card again.

I replied (early Tuesday) by email saying that the second attempt had worked, and forwarded them the WorldPay receipt and suggest that they ask WorldPay to double check. Since I received no response by Wednesday, I double check that my card was billed (it's listed on my bill, and I called my credit card company to confirm). I use the support ticket system to contact them again, saying I've confirmed that I paid and they should send the order or at least cancel the order (and charge to my credit card) and I offer to resend the receipt from WorldPay.

Now it's Thursday and I still have no response. In a few hours I will attempt to have my credit card company remove the charge from my card, since it is apparent I will never recieve anything for my nearly $300. If anyone knows a more reliable way to contact success-hk.com (direct phone number or CEO direct email), I would appreciate the pointer.

I've only heard good things about success-hk.com, but obviously at this point I have to advise anyone thinking about ordering something from them to be very cautious, since you may end up paying for nothing.

Well I'm sorry to hear about your problem, I recently got my cart that I ordered, it worked great, it came fast, and it's a good products, however thier communication needs to be worked on, sometimes it takes days before they reply, sometime they don't understand what you say and then they say something completely different. I'm happy with them but I probably wouldn't order again because of the lack of communication. If you like going through a company and just getting what you want and knowing what and how you get it, then go for success.

#10793 - denJeebus - Tue Sep 16, 2003 12:01 am

I ordered an EZFA on the 4th of September, and it shows it as 'shipped' on the website. I went with airmail and there's no tracking number, is this normal? I'm doing a school project using the GBA and I could really use this cart pronto, but I'm not sure if it shipped or if there was a bug in their system.

#10794 - zazery - Tue Sep 16, 2003 12:18 am

It took me about 3 weeks to get it via airmail, there is no tracker for air mail as explained on the website. I tried to get it before school but I didn't so sit tight and wait since it will probably take about 3 weeks since they order it, do the code and test it on an emulator and once it arrives then load it on it. Good luck with the project.

That's what I'm doing, and I don't really NEED it ASAP since I can give demos and presentations using an emulator, but as we all know using the hardware is just awesome (I had an F2A cart up until a couple months ago when I sold it along with my old GBA).

Good service!

I had a hard time finding an EZF 256 cart to buy on the net, because of expensive prices and unavailability on stores that had a decent price. The first time I tried to order through Success-hk was on August 8th. I paid and emailed them after a couple of days, since my order was not shipped yet. A woman replied saying EZF had sold out and that they would be cancelling my credit card charge. Said and done, no charges to my credit card.

When it was restocked, I ordered it on Semptember 17th, it arrived here today, September 25th.

Oh by the way, I could track down my package (EMS to Brazil) using the hongkongpost.com's website, tough the only kind of information was: Shipped Sept 18th and Arrived in destination country on Sept 24th (awaiting for local delivery).

My only complaint is that the card-sized CD that comes with EZF was cracked, so I cannot use it. It may have cracked during shipping, who knows... I won't go through any hassle just for a 50mb CD replacement ;)

Anyway I had already heard that the CD contains old drivers, so I downloaded the drivers and read the simple instructions on the net, and the cart works perfectly!

#11116 - ravenq - Fri Sep 26, 2003 6:21 am

Just ordered an EZF Advance 256M from Success, got it within a week of paying for it, so I'm very happy with them.

However, I'd originally purchased it from a place called Linkerworld.com, and after a month had passed, my order hadn't even shipped. I ended up having to call the company they use to process orders to get them to cancel and refund it (expensive when you're calling from Australia). So I'd have to give them a thumbs down. (Plus they were US$40 more expensive than success!)

These guys are AWESOME!!! I ordered two carts on Friday afternoon with the express shipping(only $8 more) and the carts were in my hand on Monday morning. That is pretty amazing considering that it came from Hong Kong. The carts work perfectly too.

I just ordered the 256 mbit flash2advance from succes. It was easy, but had a few problems with pay pal. I tried using hte quicket air one but it said it wouldnt work, so I used the cheapest one, air mail. I live in Canada and didnt know it is in Hong Kong. How long should I expect to wait before I get it? I heard someone say 3 weeks by using air mail.

#12850 - wumpos - Fri Nov 28, 2003 8:39 pm

I just recieved my flash2advance 256 mbit flash cart. It took about 3 days less then three weeks to recieve using the air mail and I live in Canada. I am very happy with the service. I also like the case it comes in, very classy :p

#13265 - Varelse - Wed Dec 10, 2003 6:04 am

I ordered an EZFlash II PowerStar Saturday night around 10pm, paid easily with PayPal, and ran into the FedEx guy on my way to work on Tuesday.

Incredible service and speed. I don't even get this good of service from local stores. Too bad I have to buy from the other side of the world to get good service.

I would rate this supplier 5 stars and will order from then again.

#16054 - scaryupamon - Sat Feb 07, 2004 8:20 am

I placed an order to get an EZFA 256 about a week ago. It was listed as shipping within 24 hours, but hasn't shipped yet. I placed a support request in their 'ticket' system, and got no reply whatsoever. I got in touch with another customer who ordered the same item. I got in touch with this other customer via the SupportHK forums at http://www.success-hk.com/forum/. The other customer told me that they were told this item was on backorder for at least 2 weeks, and that their 'help ticket' reply came about a week late. So now I have to wait another two or three weeks minimum, and possibly never even get the damn thing even though I had to pay upfront.

I'd have to strongly recommend against ordering from Success-HK.

Good customer service...? They didn't even reply to my help ticket for five days! I understand they have a shortage, and can respect that. Their problem is that they don't reply to the help tickets in a timely manner, which is really frustrating because the buyers have to pay upfront instead of being charged only when the order ships. It was really frustrating to get no response whatsoever and to have no idea if my order was going to ship or if I was just being ripped off, for over a week. Your experience with them may have been good, but I think they have some work to do. :P Maybe with the help ticket thing they need to hire a few more people so they can process them more quickly.

If my credit card was only charged when the order ships, if they updated their site with current information on what's in stock, and if they had a way for customers to cancel their order themselves, I wouldn't have worried about the delay at all. Or, alternately, if they had replied to my help ticket within a day or even two, it also would have been fine. I just wanted to know what was going on.

Meh.

#16388 - anosh - Sat Feb 14, 2004 1:18 pm

Succes ships fast and most of their products seem to be ok. It's only when the product is faulty when you recognize the true quality of a store. And success' quality will make you cry. There is a HUGE problem with the new and very expensive flash2advance ultra cards (256 Mb - 1 Gb) and their respons to it is..... nothing. They ignore it. And to make matters worse; they keep selling it. Without warnings or even links to reviews. They answer service tickets with very general and vague wording and they seem to be trying to sit the trouble out. I'm no longer buying there. Even worse; i'm returning the card I bought there. It's a shame Lik-sang no longer sells these cards.

#16466 - Mill - Tue Feb 17, 2004 10:01 am

I agree with anosh and scaryupamon. I used to be a very happy customer at success. But when the problem happened, their customer support kept giving some nonsensical excuses (let alone the slow response time).

So I don't really recommend Success unless you are buying very cheap items.

#16899 - wiz - Thu Feb 26, 2004 4:52 pm

Hi, Im around the stage of putting self made GBA ROMS on to hardware :)

I ordered an EZF-Advance 256M Flash cart from success-hk on the 9th Feb. I had to specify the shipping method of air-mail as I couldnt get the couriers to accept my postcode? (I'm in the UK) I understand I can not track the delivery but I kept an eye on the status of my order.

It reported something like "ready and to be processing" until the 17th when it now says "shipped".

I'm now getting concered about it because its been a long time since I ordered it. I'm not used to buying things online so I'm a little paranoid about it all. Also, the item is now "out of stock" which doesnt help my confidence..

Is this timescale normal? Anyone had any problems receiving to England? Should I wait longer, or just contact them?

Thank you.. .all the positive feedback has relieved me quite a bit and I'll definately be sure to add my feedback when/if it arrives!

Kind Regards.

#16904 - malone - Thu Feb 26, 2004 7:01 pm

Hi wiz, I'm in Canada and I also ordered my EZFA-Advance carts from them in early February. They said they'd ship out on February 16 or 17 but they actually shipped out on February 20. As mentioned before, the EZFA manufacturer lagged behind during the Chinese holiday and they couldn't catch up to the consumer demand until recently. Now, success-hk has to finish shipping out a lot of EZFA pre-orders. Don't worry, you'll get yours, albeit a little late.

I received my order on February 25 because I paid extra for EMS shipping (either that or UPS is recommended because airmail can take a week or two. I once had to wait 3 weeks with airmail from the US). I bet your order is already in the air right now... it's just gonna take a little longer.

Since I have a wholesaler account with them (I'm a Canada-based GBA Flash cart distributor), I have a good contact w/ one of their staff and I can have them check whether or not they have shipped your order out of their door yet. Email me your order# at sales@e2city.com.

#16989 - wiz - Sat Feb 28, 2004 12:58 pm

Just an update from my previous post,

My order (EZFA-Flash 256mb) from Success-hk arrived today! As Malone reminded me it was a little delayed due to the Chinese holiday. I'm now a very happy customer and will definately order from success-hk again :)

It really is amazing to see your own work running on the hardware!

#18141 - Japots - Sun Mar 21, 2004 7:52 pm

i've heard a lot of good things from success and i almost bought my ezfa 256 from them (that was, until i came upon e2city; many thanks to you malone)

but with their recent release of the "EZFA II", i can say i dont trust them much anymore.
stealing the good name of EZFA and passing it off as their own, i expected better of them.

Ditto w/ Japots. We used to order EZFA from them, but not anymore since they crossed the line with "EZFA II". We now order directly from Borden (the actual EZFA manufacturer).

#18377 - nl255 - Thu Mar 25, 2004 8:22 am

I ordered a F2A cart and some other things from them a while back and they seem to be good for an overseas retailer. There were problems with communication due to their not so good english (engrish) and delays due to hong kong time differences but those are to be expected. Prices are decent though shipping costs are quite high. Also returns can be an issue, the GBA Super Memory Stick I ordered with my cart was defective and it would cost more to ship it back than I paid for it, but that isn't their fault. I would recommend sticking to a company located in the country you are in (USA in my case), but if none of them have what you are looking for or you live in Hong Kong, Success is quite good though I will try to avoid all retailers not in the USA or Candada if possible.

#19516 - sk3tch - Wed Apr 21, 2004 5:57 am

I ordered a 512MB F2A Ultra cart and paid the $20 for expedited shipping. They listed a FedEx tracking number the next day...however after several days of checking the number on FedEx's website and getting no results, I emailed for support.

They responded and said that due to a mistake they didn't realize they were out of stock. They said they had some more in and were going to ship ASAP. Meanwhile...a couple days later and nothing shipped yet (and no response to my 4/19 follow-up question).

Anyway...I just submitted another ticket requesting a discount on my shipping since the FedEx tracking number still doesn't show anything and my order still isn't updated with a new FedEx tracking number (plus I've received no notice of shipping). 7 days later and $20 paid for this...hoping they'll discount or I told them to cancel my order. I'll get this from someone else...not worth the hassle that I've had to go through so far.

#19570 - sk3tch - Thu Apr 22, 2004 2:51 am

Still nothing from these guys. I'm getting quite discouraged.

#19685 - sk3tch - Fri Apr 23, 2004 2:59 pm

And another quick update:

- Still zero response
- FedEx tracking number still not in the system

I'd recommend anyone to not buy from these guys until I get this sorted out. I am sure I'll eventually get everything sorted, but it appears they're going through some sort of crisis at the moment or something.

#20507 - stealthy - Wed May 12, 2004 8:54 am

Hi all,

I've just come back home this morning to find a UPS letter/invoice asking for payment for custom charges for an order (flash cart obviously) which was placed back in January of this year! Has anybody else got anything like this and did any of you guys order from Success Compu and pay customs on your order?

Any info appreciated. I'm not too happy atm as they want ?37 from me!!!!!

The letter says they carried out an internal audit and found this outstanding. I have called them up and the person I spoke to could not give a satisfactory answer apart from why he does'nt know why the driver did not ask for it!

#20563 - stealthy - Thu May 13, 2004 2:58 am

It seems so. I got another callback from a young lady who seemed to know what she was talking about. She explained it to me better, although I was not happy at all, I understood her. I was a bit p1553d off probably because this was the last thing I wanted to come home to after a night shift.

Anyway, I have 3 weeks to pay them, so I'll take my time. BUT, 6months, c'mon!!!!!

#35502 - Lynx - Sat Feb 05, 2005 5:41 pm

This thread should be split up into different retailers.

Anyway, I thought I read in here that linker4u.com was fast, but I ordered my EZF Advance III (256M version) on the 3rd/4th (it was late), and it is listed as "Received and to be Processing".

Does anyone know how long it normally takes for them to ship an item?
