Beginners > Backgrounds || Tile mode vs Bitmapped mode

#98196 - jbrain - Mon Aug 14, 2006 12:45 am

Hello... Im learning my way around coding the GBA and I have a question about which mode regarding backgrounds would be better for me. The demo/s im working on now only need a still picture for the background so I think a bitmapped one would be best. Is that correct? What would I need a tiled background for? (i.e. genre of game...etc)

Tiled backgrounds are good if you need to do any scrolling, or if you need to animate e.g. water on an RPG map. Tiled backgrounds are also good if you want more than 16 KiB of sprite cels.
