Is Programmers notepad a text editor, and if so is it a good one? Any sugestions of other good and simple to understand text editors would be great. Thanks.

My personal favorite editor is UltraEdit. It's quite simple to understand, and has a lot of advanced features. But unlike Programmers Notepad (which is indeed a good editor), UltraEdit is not free.

Google it.

*cough*

If it was a terrible editor, it probably would not be included in the devKitPro Windows installation. Try it and see for yourself; everyone has different opinions on different editors.

Programmer's Notepad was picked as the editor included with windows devkitPro toolchain installs for a reason. It's not my favourite, that would be UltraEdit but, as Kusma says, it's not free.

PN2 is a great little editor and offers all of the basic features you'll need for editing & compiling code.
