Beginners > Maximum 64 by 64 sprites..please help clarify

Hi, Im still learning but, if there are 1024 tiles (8x8) in 16 colors for sprites and a 64 by 64 pixel sprite takes up 64 tiles, but this sprite is 256 colors, how many sprites can i get in memory of this size....?

am i right if i say....8 for 256 colors?
