Beginners > GBA SP and Communication possibilities? EXT.1?

#81126 - Shadrack - Thu Apr 27, 2006 2:44 am

Hello.

I'm new to GBA DEV, but I'm working on a project and a friend offered to sell me her GBA SP for $40. I checked out the nice LCD and control pad, and thought I may be able to use it as a HUD for a control system that I am working on.

So, in evaluating how useful this will be for my project, this is what I've been looking for...I'm not too programming the thing yet (I'm still waiting for flash cartridge to arrive)... but taking a look at what on the web and what is on this site:

* CHECK - Flash cartridges do exist. I can upload compiled code and run it on the unit.

* CHECK - A good development community is up with lots of good documentation and programming libraries.

* NO CHECK - Documentation on using the EXT.1 port.

Does anyone know of any? Am I not searching right? Ideally I'd like to get to UART communication with some microcontrollers to set parameters and download data. I'll write bit banging algorithms if I have to conform to some proprietary standard if I have to.

I really need some documentation and some technical specifications before I can get anywhere with it.

Thanks for your input.

GBATEK describes the GBA serial port.
