DS development > [Q] problems with DevkitPro MSYS

#91379 - nds_padawan - Thu Jul 06, 2006 8:33 pm

hi,

Anyone seen this issue? I just installed DevkitPro using the updater utiltiy.
This is what MSYS is spoutimg out when I execute it.

0 [main] sh 2420 sync_with_child: child 1680(0x71C) died before initializa
tion with status code 0xC0000022
276 [main] sh 2420 sync_with_child: *** child state waiting for longjmp
sh: fork: Resource temporarily unavailable
sh-2.04$

I have my M$ XP enviroment variable path set to c:\devkitpro\msys\bin.

Any ideas? I have installed devkit on several XP platforms. This is the first time I have seen this.

thanks in advance.

This is gonna sound a bit dumb, but do you use Logitech hardware on your computer?

I had a very similar problem on my work machine *for months* when using cygwin and other unix-y programs after the installation of a Logitech Quickcam 5000. I didn't put two and two together until ages later, but anyway the tasks they spawn interfere with many people's machines.

If you've got em, try killing off LVCOMSX.exe (and I'm sure there's another LV- or LS-like program) with your task manager.

Honest!
Here's the first thing that I could turn up online about it:
http://www.cygwin.com/ml/cygwin/2006-06/msg00626.html
(sorry, looks a bit messy)
The other process which has to be killed off is LvPrcSrv.

Here's the key bit at the bottom:

However, yet another person who has encountered this problem emailed me
with a workaround, which seems to resolve the issue in my case. He had
encountered the problem himself, and he found

http://aslongas.pe.kr/tt/

which says to turn off the "Logitech Process Monitor" service, installed
with Logitech webcam software.

Though I know you're totally gonna get the same errors even after killing these processes, then I'm gonna look like a fool :-)

This was also mentioned on the mingw mailing list recently

let us know if this actually fixes your problem
