Hi guys! As I really like Infantile Paralysers Wifi Voice Chat Client I'm approaching to make a TS? client for the DS. Furthermore I will host a Teamspeak server on my friend's root server for gbadev.
The address:
85.25.54.191:8768
Password(case sensitive):
HomebrewRocks
There you can chit chat about everything about GBA- and NDS-development.
Say who would like to see a TS? client for the DS?
Although I could open a new thread for this question in "Help wanted" I still ask it here.
Would someone be interested to join this project? It should be quite feasible as Infantile proved.
I guess everyone here knows Teamspeak (if not www.goteamspeak.com)
so there should be no design document needed ;-).

You need to find out how the TeamSpeak protocol works (how it connects, how the server reacts..) and you probably need to port speex.
It's not -that- easy, but you can try. TeamSpeex (Mac version) has been written independently, so a DS version can be done as well.

That is EXACTLY what i'v been thinking. And maybe the developpers of Teamspeex

Get yourself WinPCap and Ethereal. Use Ethereal to capture outgoing packages from a TeamSpeak connection. This way, you can see what the client sends to the server to connect, or to join a channel.

Finally someone is trying to port teamspeak to DS.It would be great to talk to my mates while watching my tv without the need to switch on my PC.
Thumbs UP

Well as you said I'm trying it! I'm pretty new to DS-Programming so it's lying in the stars if there will even be an alpha version.
Though if there are other people outside willed to help me out it would become much more likely.

If you write up the workings of the TeamSpeak protocol, I'm sure many people will be interested in implementing it. Then of those many people you need to find the few that are willing to port speex (which is pretty hard).

Some News
I managed to send some custom login-request-packages to the TS-Server and I even get a response. Though this serverside response contains 13 variable bytes which seems the client has to use to calculate an matching answer. I'm working on the algorithm which produces this client-side answer.
Furthermore I discovered something like an connection ID(which I assume it is), which is compromised of 3 bytes, in the packages.
Due to the fact that the TS-Developers will release a SDK when they finished their TS? I now prefer waiting till they released it. This way compatibality is more easily to be achieved.

How long till T3 will be done? Will the SDK contain the information we need, or just for writing lame plugins for the official TeamSpeak client?

I don't know exactly but Savvy(the man behind TeamSpeex) will surely release the whole source when TS? is finished.
Though I can't say when it will be finished although they seem to be very far.

It might be better to just find an already OSS VoIP system and modify that for use on the DS, rather than trying to reverse engineer TS...

Open Source Software...
Yes, of course it *can* be done...

Hmm.. Why is it that GPF comes to mind whenever someone mentions porting?

this toolkit already uses speex and is open source ^^
#123496 - Lick - Wed Mar 28, 2007 4:42 pm
Asterisk is pretty big and bloat. I searched a bit and I found Lightweight Telephone Protocol, that's supposed to be "released shortly into OpenSource under GPL."
LTP is supposed to be lightweight and portable, so.. We will have to wait and see.

any news?
#135279 - K-Duke - Sat Jul 21, 2007 6:53 pm
I'm really sorry for letting you starve for information...
I had dropped the project a while ago (as you might have guessed)
even without notifying you guys about it.
I noticed i wasn't that a good programmer being confronted with the limited resources of an embedded system.
Though I will give it another try.
This time I will start from scratch and won't wait for anything to be released.
Furthermore I intend to create a server which is online 24/7 so it is always available.
As already said, being confronted with the DS I really had some bad problems and would appreciate any help.
Now i have set up a blog for it and will post news at least once a week, so be sure to take a look around.
The adress is

Thanks... this time it surely will.

Some little update:
I've been able to send some packets to the PC via DS (though the content is totally screwed up) by now.
Furthermore the PC-Sever and PC-Client succesfully get a connection with Username and a chat ('till now).

I don't mind you putting Roms on your G6.
I just don't want others to think i'm doing so as well.
Sorry nothing personal against you.

Wow.. If you can get any more blatant then that.. I don't know how.. "i put dumped roms on my G6 but i don't own the games ".. nice.. Not even bothered with pretending they are backups like everyone else in the scene.
