DS development > NDS lite Power connector pinouts

#112983 - digitalrambler - Fri Dec 22, 2006 3:41 am

I am currently stuck in a town without a charger for my DS, and cannot purchase one anywhere.

So I was thinking about hacking together a usb charger for my ds.

But I need to know what the pins are on the power connector so I can just stick the wires where the need to go off the usb cable.

I have searched the net but to no avail.

so if anyone coud tell me what they are I would apprciate it.
Maybe someone can stick a volt meter on there charger to check it out.

Thank you

http://web.archive.org/web/20060421005755/http://www.darkain.com/nintendo_ds/usbcable.php has instructions for making one, but you must have a charger to begin with, so that's not going to work.

If it helps your search at all, keep in mind that the GBA SP charger will also work on a DS Phat unit.

There's a diagram on the back of the system that tells you which pins are which and how much voltage it takes. Just be careful you don't blow the speakers.

STOP! Don't assume that the diagram has anything to do with the pinout!
That symbol to the right of 5.2V is the international symbol for DC current!

According to the pinout on the charger:
Code:
   _____
  | + - |

This means positive left, negative right, with the curved side up.
This appears to be the polarity for the jack on the DS. The plug on the charger is of course a mirror image.

Maybe it's gone on DS Lite, but my DS clearly has an image of the connector under the "5.2V -- IN" part, pointing to the + and - pins.

Code:
    _
.--' '--.
|-_   _-|
|-------|
|- ??? -|
 ???????

It has a + pointing to the top left pin and a - pointing to the top right. I'd colour them but it seems I can't.
