DS development > NDS header information

#115599 - Scorpei - Wed Jan 17, 2007 7:04 pm

Hey all,

Sorry to be a noob here and ask such a (probably) very simple thing. But I'm looking for a way to change the header information (the name that shows up in the Nintendo DS's main menu) of a .nds file I have. I can't seem to find out how :). If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd be grateful.

Cheers,
Scor

p.s. This didn't help me much (guess I don't understand...); http://www.bottledlight.com/ds/index.php/FileFormats/NDSFormat

Just use a hex editor. Search in the first 512k for the text string that shows up in the menu and change it to what you want it to say, but don't make the new string too long.

...word is bondage...

Well, that doesn't show me any readable data (or at least none resembling the text that I see in the DS menu).

Should hgave mentioned that before I guess ;). Sorry.

Check out gbatek. There you can find the -exact- byte/bit positions etc.
To change the name of the .NDS, try running "ndstool.exe" in a command window. It will show you how to use it to do several things, including changing the name.
