DS development > Is the EZ5 RAM expansion compatible with Opera?

#122230 - simonjhall - Sat Mar 17, 2007 11:39 pm

So I got an EZ5 3-in-1 expansion the other day, thanks to the nice people at EZ-flash.
On the site it says that the card is compatible with the Opera web browser. However none of the unlock codes in the demo program look anything like what chishm's got to unlock the official Opera expansion!

So, does anyone know first hand if this expansion will work with the Opera browser?

And finally - the unlock addresses for the EZ5 expansion live within the 32 meg space of the card. What happens to the data in those addresses when I write the codes to lock the memory and return to regular disk-access mode?

PS: Opera > Firefox :-D

The 3in1 is not hardware compatible with the Opera RAM expansion. For use with Opera you'd need to patch the ROM. AFAICT this is what the EZ5 slot-1 card does automagically (thus the claim that the 3in1 is 'compatible', even tho strictly speaking it isn't). Same with rumble. :|

On the plus side someone may yet (has?) make a patch for NitroHax for patching original carts to be able to use the 3in1 RAM and Rumble instead of having to use the official (but separate) RAM and Rumble.
