I really wanna put this as my sig, but if I did that, I'd have to get rid of the donations link. Suggestions?

But no seriously, I did actually look at the link you've provided. Tbh I'm not really sure what I'm looking at. If it was just an SDK then I'd have just expected header files, and maybe some link libraries. But there's a lot of source in here, but it looks like loaders/savers so I reckon it must be exporter tools for HL. No game code here.

Really, you've just got to give it up. There be no Half-Life for de dee-ess.

As far as I know you could not legally use that SDK for anything but the half-life engine.
Like I mentioned in the other thread, your better off re-creating the game code in QuakeC or writing your own native code interface and doing it that way.

TinyURL. It'd also stop spambots from scooping up the email address contained in the link.

But... If I had the time someday, I bet I could put half-life on the DS, Similar to HyperHacker's port of Majora's Mask...

Original DS Phat obtained on day of release + flashme v7
Supercard: miniSD, Kingston 1GB, Kingston 2GB
Ralink chipset PCI NIC

AFAIK, thats not the full source to the game engine, instead its the sources to the mod-specific code (like quakec code, its compiled by the mod developer, then run by the engine) Thus it won't help you port half-life to the ds. If the Half-Life sources had been released we'd be seeing tons of enhanced ports like exist for doom and quake. (not talking about ds ports here, but things like doomlegacy & the quake builds with shaders)

#134113 - phanboy_iv - Tue Jul 10, 2007 6:56 pm

Quite simply, there will be no chance of a Half Life homebrew ports unless Valve releases the full engine source. Probably not even then.

haha, "HLSDK found!" It's not like it was ever hard to find.

Majora's Mask on the DS?

Edit: oh yeah, he's part of the team who also put Perfect Dark on the DS too, yeah?

Do us all a favour and promise you will never procreate. We don't want your DNA clogging up the gene pool.

It may not have been the brightest idea, but really that was just unnecessary.

One could run Perfect Dark in Goomba Color or Lameboy, right?

If by unnecessary, you mean "a hilarious and fitting riposte", then yes.

#134198 - OSW - Wed Jul 11, 2007 3:06 pm

No. that wasn't really funny. It was malicious.

If you're gonna poke fun at him please do it in a more light hearted manner.

To lolmasta. It's a fair idea, but i'm sure you've understood at least some of the complications by now. It's often too much to ask others to start projects for you.
hope you aren't too scarred by some persons response -_^

I didn't mean to come off as a flamer, I was aiming for "harmless fun-poking". I guess I have been hanging around the Something Awful guys too much.

By getting ON-TOPIC, now,
One said that that's how you got HL in Linux.
Why not in DS?
hmm...

...

Can this nonsense thread please be closed?

Unless I am mistaken (which is quite possible), Half-Life runs on Linux through WINE.

I say again, just to be clear. Half-Life's full source code has not been released, so a DS version will only be possible through:
1. A reverse engineering nightmare, or
2. Emulation.

Please stop bickering like kids and quoting each other a mile deep.

Half-Life is proprietary software, and Valve has not announced any port to the DS. This is all you need to know for the next 90 years.
