I am trying to find some kind of sources with finding a way to launch a DS game from a homebrew app, perhaps I am not searching with the right terms

What do you mean with "DS game"? A commercial game like "Mario Kart DS"? Or do you speak of homebrew games and applications?

look into ACEkard sources and both questions are answered.

I mean a DS cart like mario kart, because I had this idea of doing something like creating a centralized chat room, and in the chatroom, you can see who has what game in slot 1, then both players can swap friend codes, launch the game, and set up some online matches

How would you convince the people you meet to use 1. homebrew hardware and 2. your chat room software instead of, say, PictoChat?

I think it'd work fine. I only ever have 20 members in my irc room at a time, yet members will all the time arrange matches by telling each other to wait while they reboot, get friendcode, reload DSO, type it in, and then reboot back out together to play. I don't think he means locally, as that'd be stupid.

I'd post some code for reading DS cards, but last time the link was deleted for reasons that still aren't exactly clear. Or I've forgotten them.

People worry that slot-1 reading code will lead to piracy, leaving the board in a less than legal position.

But we don't see anyone editing out instructions to read from slot-2.

I can only tell for my country, but breaking the encrytion to read/copy protected artwork is illegal. Producing or making available of means (including algorithms) to break copy protections are prohibited.

hah. yea but reading from slot-2 is as simple as ... reading from memory? :P there are programs out that do all this encrypt/decrypt stuff. prob won't find sources, but if you're an uber cool hax0r you can just disassemble it. or (using sources available on this site!!) you can read the protected BIOS images and study them too! they'll get ya close, but no one wants the real deal proof of concept here making it easy for noobs... for them, they can just download a binary that dumps carts to WiFi or slot-2 :)
but it's all illegal. even that BIOS part i'd think.

I thought parts of the game were not encrypted, like the game ID, also I do not want to launch from a homebrew cart if that is what you mean tepples, I want to launch the actual legit game, so those with slot 1 devices for homebrew will be SoL I guess
