DS development > Slow flashcart

#147843 - Jesse - Sat Dec 29, 2007 12:49 am

Does anyone know which flashcart is the slowest for fileaccess? I would like to get one of those so I can test worst-case.

(or perhaps someone have a good idea of how to emulate a slow cart using a R4?)

I think Datel's Game's N Music card is one of the slowest.

GnM is probably the slowest known card that uses the libfat/DLDI system. The only slower file system in DS mode would probably be a network redirector, which would install into devoptab separately from libfat.

And on a positive note, the GnM is only $20 so you don't have to spend much for a worst case test.

Is it really that slow? Is it just 10% slower than say an R4, or does it have like a 5x lower transfer rate? How are the seek times compared to an R4?
Tepples, how does it fare with your speed tester?

His original post for the speed tester app has some data to back it up, which you replied to simon, heh.
