DS development > Setting up framebuffer and sprite mode?

Is it possible to have a framebuffer layer, and a sprite overlay on the same screen? like a framebuffer background, and then use sprites ontop of it using the DS sprite system?

On the GBA or DS, you can use an "extended rotation" background for your frame buffer, and you have your frame buffer with sprites on it.
