How much power is consumed by Standby Mode? Is it feasable to leave a DS on all day in this mode instead of turning it off completely?

I think some people have posted that it'll last close to a full day, but not quite. I don't have a DS myself yet, so I can't really verify that.

Once I get finished with getting the last few cars in Asphalt GT (I've been sleeping it so I don't have to re-race) I'll have to completely charge then just let it sit to see how long before it's dead.
In some cases it seemed like I may have been able to go two days while it slept but I'm not certain.

it is purely game dependant. each game can say how much of the hardware to keep enabled or disabled while in sleep mode. check out metroid, the wireless and touch screen are still 100% functional in sleep mode, however things like pictochat shut off the wireless. so, much like normal battery time is dependant upon the same, so is sleep mode.

Thanks, that makes sense. Is the wireless active in metroid during sleep ONLY when in the middle of a multiplayer game or anytime you put it to sleep? Seems a waste to keep it active.

wireless is only active in multiplayer mode. while in wireless mode, the power LED will blink. you can also test this via packet sniffing.

From what I've heard from other users, you get about an hour extra battery life when it's sleeping than if you had it open and running full bore under Mario 64.

Just came back from a 12 hour plus trip (Actually closer to 20). My battery wasn't completely full when I started, but it was still sleeping soundly. I'd say that sleeping it MAY be very close to having it off, but I'd still like to know how long before the green light doesn't blink anymore.

i was about to save peach on sm64 but i was very sleepy so i just closed the ds. it was on a red lite. in the morning i was really worried it died out but it was fine. i believe red light means about 30% power? and that was about 10 hours of sleeping. (for me and the ds)

Just for reference I charged my DS, played for about 2 hours, put it on sleep then picked it up 36 hours later and played for another 2-3 hours which is very impressive imo. A good friend of mine has kept his on sleep for 4 days!

Yah I came to a friends house and started playing super mario and left it on for 4 days then started playing it again and the battery light was still green and i played it for 2 or 3 more hours

I've run the standby mode in Mario 64 for several days (4 or 5 days at the least, maybe closer to a week). The unit still had enough power for about 1/2 hour of gaming, which would have allowed ample time to charge it if I wasn't lazy.
