After seeing the pics of the DS taken apart on Lik-Sang, Im wondering... where the heck is the CPU and other chips? There's only one or two IC's on the motherboard, did they condense everything into those? If so that'd be pretty amazing....
Or does the DS have another motherboard in its top half which actually contains them? If it does why are there no pics of it anywhere?

Wow, that's pretty amazing. So where's the ARM7? Is it contained within the ARM9 chip?
And what about the graphics processor? No seperate chip for that either? :O

You know the chip that says "NTR-SRAM"? Isn't that the 4 MB of external RAM?
EDIT: Found the page for the chip, or at least a very similar one - http://www.st.com/stonline/books/ascii/docs/9866.htm#RawText - says it's a 32 Mb/4MB RAM chip, so that must be what it is.

I agree, as the fewer chips you have the lower the price. This was why the PSP was GOING to have less RAM (use it on-chip) but when the developers demanded more, they had to include a separate ram chip, raising the price of each one made.

External flash memory? Where?
That would be the perfect way in...

ive heard the dev kits have 8 mb of ram, an extra 4 mb for debugging. could the ds' memory be upgraded to 8mb, or would the cpus/bios not see the extra 4 mb?

i always thought that the ARMs were housed in the big silver shielded chip that has green pen markings on it in the lik-sang piccies. if not, whats in that one?

Wi-Fi, thats why the antenna is so close, and why it has the metal sheilding.

Nope, the BIOS in retail units is different to those in the dev units.
