DS development > New demo: "Under Pressure"

#37967 - natrium42 - Sat Mar 19, 2005 10:41 am

It's indeed possible to read pseudo pressure from the touchscreen. It's based on touch area as opposed to real exerted pressure.

Small demo (with source) uploaded to http://www.dslinux.org/blogs/natrium42

Now, if there would be a stylus that could vary the touch area, one could make a really cool painter program :)

At arts supply stores there are these things I saw once that were rubber smudge tools. They have tapered tips and could be used for just such a thing.

Can't remember how much they cost, tho.

Inferring touch pressure from area seems to be a common practice in input devices. The buttons on Dual Shock 2 controllers are pressure-sensitive only because the underlying contacts are area-sensitive.
