DS development > Bigger range on wi fi.

#39244 - tuddelidoo - Wed Apr 06, 2005 2:44 pm

Sorry my english.. Writing from norway.

I`ve read everything on the wi fi (I think).

here is something that could work making the range bigger. It works on the usb sticks. tried it my self. Really good range.. about 5 km. Could do it better with a bigger dish.

Here is a picutre of how it looks like:

i guess. if you take out the DS antenna. put it inside this dish, it would make some difference... ?

That kind of high gain directional antenna modification is actually illegal (local law may vary) unless you lower the power output of the wifi accordingly, and since we cannot modify the power output of the DS..

Well.. the thing that sucks about that is you would have to have the mesh sitting in your lap while you played.

make a smaller antenna

I'm guessing that for battery reasons, the Nintendo DS's power output is already well below the legal limit.

It probably is. But is it low enough? For high-gain antennas the power output must be set very low.

Sounds like it thought you were trying to hotlink and redirected you - hello.jpg is goatse :P

#39361 - Spaceface - Fri Apr 08, 2005 12:02 am

The guy just faked the URL.. it's a goatse link to hello.jpg
with a url= thing... look goatse up on images.google.com... and to be clear, that's NOT WORK SAFE... so a mod might want to considder to close this topic..

Nah, it's probably just the site's protection against hotlinking. I know of a few sites that refer you to disgusting pictures if you try to access them through links on unauthorized sites. :p

Copying and pasting the URL up there works just fine.

That was my thought as well since I know this crap from geocities. But it didn't worked either.
But tuddelidoo's link works just fine.

It is just a protection against hotlinkinging. I used space on a forum i`m writing in, but it`s not allowed hotlinking.

Anyway, does anybody fancy the idea with the wifi mod? What about modding it to a smaaler antenna.
