DS development > 24bit BMP file to 16 bit RAW for textures?

#46388 - Freakker - Fri Jun 24, 2005 2:50 am

Hello,
I've recently started playing around with the ndslib examples, and I wanted to try using my own texture with the extured cube example.
The source image is a 128x128 24 bit bitmap, and I use Darkfader's bmp2bin, but when I try to convert it to a 16 bit x1b5g5r5 file, it doesn't show anything, and when I convert it to a 16 bit r5g5b5i1 the colors are messed up.
Has anybody else had this problem that can help me?

Are you making sure to set the most significant bit of each pixel in the x1b5g5r5 format?

How would I do that?

If you use gfx2gba, then use my program called FixBit16 available from http://headkaze.webpal.info/. You must set this alpha bit otherwise you will get nothing but a blank screen using BGR15.

PETER: "Hey Brian, look! There's a message in my Alpha Bits. It says 'OOOO'!"

BRIAN: "Peter, those are Cheerios."

Neither do I but you won't hear me complainin'.

Mostly because this is a textual medium! HAHAHA!

It's a Family Guy reference, but you should be able to get it =O. Alpha-Bits are a cereal with all kinds of letters. Peter thought they suddenly spelt a message to him, and.....

I enjoy jokes everywhere. Laughing is good, people.

Man, if those Alpha Bits taste anything like Kellogg's Start used to... Mmmmm.
