So what advantages does this have over your last release of WMBFront?

I really like the last release :)

It's oriented towards being a server, like a kiosk to serve multiboot ROMs to people. WMBFront has limited server functions at the moment. Although, the next release of WMBFront will be better, since that it will have all the functionality of this server app (launch at startup, select ROMs from a list etc. I have already added to version 1.4) but include shuffle. What is shuffle? It's just like shuffle on a stereo system whereby it randomly selects a set amount of ROMs and broadcasts them, then after a download it runs wmb.exe again with another random set amount of ROMs. This way, you don't know what your going to be served at any given time. There is a limitation to send 16 ROMs at one time using wmb.exe (it's actually a DS limitation), so to allow all ROMs to be served, you need a shuffle option.

WMBFront is better for sending single ROMs over IMO, but as a server this program is actually better at this stage. (Unless the author adds shuffle!)

Ooh, I like the "launch at startup" function :) 16 has been plenty for me though, so shuffle is no big deal here.

EDIT: I think I'll just wait for your next version, I'm not liking some things here... like the server name... I prefered the way yours worked. Also, there were some header errors that I don't experience with your program. And it changed the name of the Polarium Demo (from firefly's site) to a Japanese name :( Do you know if that demo is signed and will run from a regular NDS?

How do you make it working? This app correctly lists all my demos in the /data folder (with the correct filename), but every icon have a red cross on it, and when i try to run the server, it shown an error in a dos box: "unknown or incomplete parameter "Data" "

You must mark the roms/apps you want the Server to broadcast, before starting the Serverbroadcast.

Get rid of theRED X on stuff you want to broadcast.

#50424 - youplaboum - Tue Aug 09, 2005 3:09 pm

Click on the redX.

Whoa, I must really look silly by now ^^

Hm, nice to see my program here.

Shuffle sounds nice, but random shuffle is not so good, better it sends the first time the first 16 roms and the second time the next 16 roms.

Next Feature is an live update of the rom list, so you don't must restart my program when you add/del some roms in the "data" folder. Good for Homebrew Coder.

I can't seem to share more than 8 demos. On the ninth file, WMB says it can't load header.bin :\

That is an Bug in WMB.exe, the programer knows about it.

The WMB.exe can't read long Commandlines.

My E-Mail to Tim Schuerewegen (from 07.06.2005):
Quote:
your WMB Tool (wmb.exe) is realy nice, but the Tool cut the End of the Commandline, when its to long. For Multifile Support it should read longer Commandlines.

At the moment, i only can reach the max 16 NDS Files at once, when the Filenames of the NDS Files are very short or the last Files where cut off the Commandline.

The only answer was (from 11.06.2005):
Quote:
Hi,

Thank you for your feedback.

Tim

Well, I'm quite happy you take this over actually, I got bored of updating WMBFront. If you want the source I am more than happy to post a copy. Perhaps you could incorporate the "imbedded console", which is a feature I quite like. Anyways, thanks for a nice program, shame I am so lazy.

If anyone here knows MFC for windows and wants to continue WMBFront, then let me know here. (if not) I will maybe update one day soon, if I feel inspired. Smithie pass me an apple!

it can't find my ds,

Code:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
nintendo DS - Wireless Multiboot Application - Version 1.4 Beta 1

(c) 2005 Tim Schuerwegen

Devicefind<> failed
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

#66126 - MaHe - Sun Jan 08, 2006 11:31 am

Reinstall the drivers.

#66133 - Sektor - Sun Jan 08, 2006 1:27 pm

It's not trying to find your DS. That message means it can't find a card with ralink chipset in your PC. Make sure you have a compatible card (not USB) and you have firefly's drivers installed.

#66172 - thsoldier - Sun Jan 08, 2006 7:57 pm

ok, get it

#66253 - HyperHacker - Mon Jan 09, 2006 7:23 am

Pretty cool, but I'd suggest having a timed shuffle. Send these demos for a while, then another set, etc.

#112577 - ascaccetti - Mon Dec 18, 2006 2:06 am

how do you connect to your ds using a action replay max duo

#112593 - HyperHacker - Mon Dec 18, 2006 11:24 am

What's this have to do with WMB? Why bump an almost year-old thread? What are you even talking about?
