i want to backup my nintnedogs save (and any other save for that matter), because you can only have one save on the cart.

sigh

There is an EEPROM tool out there that lets you back up or NDS saves to your GBA, all you would need to do is get it from GBA to somewhere else

Discussion of backing up savegames appears more likely to be tolerated on gbadev.org than discussion of backing up games themselves (although I may have to ask the admins for sure), but Pocket Heaven's wiki and boards will likely be more helpful about this subject.

I will caution that Nintendogs is more likely not to work with common DS savegame tools because it uses a 2 Mbit (256 KByte) serial flash chip. The available tools are most reliable with games that use the more common 4 Kbit and 64 Kbit EEPROM chips. To find out what savegame size a game uses, check Pocket Heaven's release listing.

I wondered why sometimes it takes AGES to save. Must be when it has to overwrite more of the data.

AR Max is nice, limited storage, but, for further protection you can put it on your computer.. well, you could do that with a homebrew thing. You want to back up nintendogs, for right now you are going to have to buy an AR max, or hack it yourself.

Does your GBA flash cart have SRAM ?
[Nintendogs Trainer will save the entire game save to SRAM -- typically in under 32KB]

DsPet, did you finish the trainer? (I dont see anything on it anywhere) Would like to know what you did to compress it down, RLE or otherwise...

Yes it is mostly working. I want to do more testing before a public release. It has been very robust for me. Like any of these programs it is possible to screw up your game save, so an initial backup is recommended (you need an SRAM cart to backup using my tool)
Non-SRAM carts can access all the other features.

Access all the cool Nintendogs dogs/features/items without doing any of the work!
See this page for feature list: http://www.aibohack.com/nds/trainer.htm . Actual program coming soon...

Please email me (dspet @ aibohack.com) if you want to try a beta. Please let me know what homebrew cart you use.
