DS development > DS Spectrum emulator?

#63546 - Darkflame - Wed Dec 14, 2005 4:42 am

Anyone hear on anyone? As far as I can tell there isnt even an active GBA one let alone DS one (and especialy nor one that works on a GBAMP ;) )

I did notice however, this gba one is open source:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=52634

Any ideas how much effort it would be to port?

I'm working on DSpec. There's a couple of demo ROMs here ---> http://www.btinternet.com/~softtec/ds/

For the GBA there's ZXAdvance, but I'm not sure it works on GBAMP.

i'm still looking forward to this http://dspec.eighttwelve.co.uk/index.php though as i am typing i'm remembering that it'll probably not work with my SClite for a while... i'm still excited tho. there are loads of nice speccy games - i wonder if it'll let you write programs in basic? i used to write little tunes in basic when i was little. DS speccy too *joy*

Many games played better on Spectrum. The first that comes to mind is "stop the express" where the spectrum version was by far the best for me. C64 obviously had the better graphics and did not suffer from the classic "Colour clash" ahhh those were the days

i got a letter printed in sinclair user once. it was about their reveiw of dan dare 3 and that the game was too easy so had no lastability :P

Dan dare III. I remember that one aswell! Crash magazine was my read of the time.

So any news on the progress of these emulators. Crying out for some speccy action now.

I look forward to the first one that can run the 128k version of Auf Wiedersehn Monty so I can listen to that glorious opening music:)

I'm helping to beta test DSpec, and it's very good.

It emulates a 48k spectrum and will load .SNA and .Z80 files (no .tap support yet) By default the controls are set up as a kempston joystick, but you can reconfigure them to anything you want, and then save a config file for that specific game.

TheHive has made great use of the touch screen for when you want to play adventure games or games that require a lot of typing.

It also has the option of doing real time save of the game to your card, but this is very buggy at the moment and it's hit and miss.

All in all it's looking good. ;)

haha, how sarcastic. ;)

I assumed that thier would be one built from the ground up as opposed to a port.

But thanks. :)
