I can't get the metal bits of the hinges between the two halves out. I'm trying to change the shell from silver to this blue replacement one but those things will not come out. If I tilt the top half so it's almost in that angle that it "snaps" to when you open it to play, the metal hinge pieces will slide out of their holes a tiny bit, maybe a few millimeters, but they don't come loose and I can't get the halves apart. What am I missing?

Just take a screwdriver and push on them. I fixed a DS with spare parts from another one and that's how I did it.

I've pushed so hard, I was afraid I was going to snap the top shell in half, or my screwdriver. It won't move any further than a few mm.

make sure you aren't tightening it...

er...tightening? Is that even possible?

Hey, I have a nice little movie that shows how to dissasemble the DS. I used it to do it myself. Succesfully repaired one DS with the pieces of another broken one. Dunno how I can share it with you though...

I'd love to see that video. If you could upload it to rapidshare.de or upload it to my ftp, that'd be awesome.

hey, i got them out...fisrt keep them in, all the way in. then when you snap it to the usual play angle, push them out.

I got them to move enough to where I could free the top half of the DS from the bottom half, but the hinges still won't come out. Do you just keep pushing and force them out or what?

it seem to be a mechanism that it only comes out at a certain angle, which means...i think you need to put the top and the bottom together again, keep the 2 little metal cylinders ALL THE WAY IN, this is important, since if they are not all the way in, they wont come out even if at the right angle. yes i know they can be pushed out a couple millimeters, but ignore that fact, in fact, avoid doing that. only push out the two cylinders when you are snapped at the usual play angle, and make sure they are all the way in (cant stress that enough)
