DS development > Tiled Capture?

It seems to me it will be a lot easier to perfectly combine 2048 tri rendering batches by splitting the scene into 2d screen rectangles than splitting by depth.

Can someone point me to the screen capture registers and maybe describe how screen capture works so I can start to figure out if this is even possible?
