DS development > G6 flash I/O

#71551 - Xtreme - Mon Feb 13, 2006 12:21 pm

MoonShell does not have G6 I/O drivers in the sources.

G6 team has included "MPG6/ G6 I/O" to the MoonShell v0.3. And they don't give the source code. Only that binary.

MoonShell about box says: G6 I/O test by lionel

Is it possible to reverse engineer the stuff out of the MoonShell-MP3 for G6 package?
Sorry if this is lame question. Only code I can write is html and win cmd scripts. I can remember that .COM files could be reverse engineered easily.

Or is our (ppl with G6 carts) only hope to wait for G6 to release their modded MoonShell?

Hi extreme,

I also have a g6flash, and i also want a new moonshell for g6.

but i think that we don't have to wait very long anymore
take a look at this: http://www.m3-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=1317

it's the new moonshell/firmware for the m3-adapter
and g6 mostly have the same updates

so maby we will also get a moonshel firmware for g6.

chech www.g6flash.com tomorrow (they mostly update their site on then)

let's hope

bye

Does MoonShell use any GPL codecs?

Since it decodes MP3s I would assume it uses something like MAD, which is GPL (not LGPL). And that alone would require them to release the source, no?

Yes, we will have *integrated G6 MoonShell later.

I mailed them: "Are there comming similar update for G6 flashcart?"
They replied quickly: "Yes , we will do it for G6 later ."

So I don't know when, but it's comming. :)

* By integrated I mean that it reads files from users flash space. Not integrated in the firmware (alias Loader).

Works fine when i choose "Add Header" to start it.
If you just start it with "Run", the screen will turn white and nothing happens.
