Hello! I know people generally hate requests, but this is a simple one:
An app for ds that can be sent over wifi from WMB that will unstick pixels on ds systems.
I know there is a gba app for this but it doesn't reach to where the pixel is on my ds, and therefore, does nothing.
#87192 - parrot_ - Mon Jun 12, 2006 5:19 pm
Has been done AFAIK.

#87203 - Scorpei - Mon Jun 12, 2006 5:34 pm
Nope not me, but the nerd of the nerds aparently does :).
If I do get one I know where to look though, thanks!
Btw, there is a differnce with a dead pixel and a sticky one.

I like you posted before you edited better :).
Dead pixel is a pixel that simply doesn't work anymore --> it's dead.
Sticky pixel --> pixel that does not want to change any color (it just stays one color that you do not want).
Stickies can (sometimes) be fixed by a certain way of putting power on them (I don't know that much about that).

I tought a dead pixel is like what you mentioned about a sticky pixel...
got pictures of both situations?
b/c I only can find a "sticky" pixel :( :D

Okay, stuff you will not understand :):
http://home.hetnet.nl/~zeylmaker/pixels/pixels.htm
I'll try to translate a bit (I don't know much about this so don't hit me if I translated wrong).
Dead Pixel: These sensors do not read anymore data, these are therefore always off. This can be seen on your screen as a pixel that is black whilst anything else should be shown.
Stuck pixel: These sensors are always on, they will always dislplay the maximum value (as a white birght pixel/spot).

heheeheh :P
But still no picture of a dead pixel >_<
#87216 - Scorpei - Mon Jun 12, 2006 6:01 pm
let me make one for you, this is easy.
Top left are a bunch of stuck pixels (you get the idea) and there are a bunch of dead ones spread all over.
http://www.simonvandeberg.be/dead_pixel+stuck_pixel.bmp
The stuck pixels can be any color, as long as they are the maximum value, so ultimate bright green/red/blue are posibillitys.
The thing is that they stay that way.

so.. this is actually not a dead pixel? :D
#87220 - Scorpei - Mon Jun 12, 2006 6:06 pm
Hoezo ik ben melig ;), duncan the dead pixel :D.
Nee hij is niet dood denk ik (no it isn't dead I think).
I think it's just stuck.
You could try googling for a tool to un-stick it.
Make sure you're not epileptic, if you are keep the screen covered when running the thing.

Ok, its a stuck pixel, and thanks for the links!
I was expecting my post to have been burried or something but you guys really helped me, thanks!
This forum has proven to be quite a friendly place, and i applaud that. You gba/ds dev people are quite a fine bunch i must say.
#87234 - CubeGuy - Mon Jun 12, 2006 8:03 pm
Out of the five Lites that me and my friends got, two have stuck (I think) pixels.
They show up as blue when they should be black, but they show other colors fine.
This is stuck, right?

If you don't have FlashMe: Such a program would have to be signed by Nintendo, which is not likely to sign a program with a potential of causing so-called "Pok?mon seizures".
If you do have FlashMe: Generally, any flash equipment capable of being used to install FlashMe is also capable of being used to boot a GBA program such as my own GBAMP compatible stuck pixel fixer. Is it that you flashed your DS at a friend's house and now you can't afford $40 on eBay ($25 GBAMP + $15 CF card, incl. shipping) for your own flash equipment? Even my 7-year-old cousin can (and did) save up his chore money.

Ok buddy, i don't have flashme but i plan to use a NoPass with it. I may have made a n00bish request but there is no need for you to get your panties in a bunch and treat me like a n00b. so much for this being a friendly place
Oh, and the pixel is stuck.
#87305 - tepples - Tue Jun 13, 2006 6:22 am
I was trying to be friendly, but I have a brain disorder that makes my attempts fail sometimes.
Anyway, it's impossible to reach a stuck pixel on the border without a PassMe2 or NoPass. WMB doesn't work because homebrew is not signed by Nintendo.

Handing out information like that is friendly, I'd say.
#87354 - tepples - Tue Jun 13, 2006 3:32 pm
The current implementations of NoPass do not let one use DS Download Play with unsigned software. A future NoPass that includes an HTTP client might.

Sorta what I'm reduced to, saving money.

Yes, i do, i just don't have my ds lite flashed at the moment. Either my friend or i was going to order a max media launcher and he beat me to it...

Normally, I'd agree, but I'm still not completely clear on the lite's issues (not that that stopped me from risking mine).

Issues? Issues besides the fact that one needs to coat the shorting device on the sides (so that only the tip is exposed and able to make contact)?
#87733 - CubeGuy - Thu Jun 15, 2006 9:03 am
I rubberized my flashing tool, but it kept shorting out after about 60%. I got it done after about half an hour.

Hi,
This seems to be the most knowledgable place to ask, though I don't know, but;
My DS lite has recently developed a stuck pixel. It's only visible as light blue on blue, green on dark blue, and a kind of red on orange.
I know it's only one pixel, and not as annoying as one that's white or black, but I wanted to know if they can always be fixed, and if it's just a matter of leaving the fixer on for longer?
I've left it on for about 4 hours, to no avail, and just wondered if I was wasting my time.
Thanks
#89235 - Scorpei - Fri Jun 23, 2006 5:52 pm
I believe, sadly, it cannot always be fixed.
If a sensor is broken, it stays that way.
