If I use a tooth pick that's been wrapped with aluminum foil, then I wrap the tooth pick in this thick, clear, plastic tape (all but about a millimeter or two), will it be safe to flash with? Note: It does fit into the SL-1 jumper. I also heard that if you make the flashing tool touch the sides, it'll turn off your DS and basically murder it. Will the tape solve this problem, so I'll basically have a 100% chance of completing the flashing of my DS Lite?

I used two metal paperclips taped together.

In your picture you have a GBA MP2 near the GBA slot of a DS Lite. I thought the MP2 didn't work with a Lite (for homebrew)?

Best one I've been using was simply rolling aluminium foil as tighly as possible (no toothpick or anything inside), and in the end wrap one layer of tape around it. It's tad bonky, you can't press really hard without bending the foil stick, but it's more than enough for flashing DS Lites and works well with old models, too.

GBAMP v2 CF doesn't work with PassMe2, but it does work with NoPass.

5/32" Allen key wrapped in electrical tape. A few bucks total at your local hardware store.
No fuss, only a tad bit of muss.

Would the whole thing need to be wrapped in electrical tape, and the very end would be exposed? So, for instance, it would be like wrapping up the sides entirely, and the very tip would be exposed?
P.S. Does it HAVE to be electrical tape, or can it just be regular, plastic tape?

i used exactly the same, took a bit of fiddling to get it to work, but after a couple of minutes I found the right spot.

I used a thin, long piece of aluminum foil. Didn't bother with electrical tape. Worked on two DS Lites. :P I used a mini screwdriver on a DS Phat.

I'd suggest you use the tape.. but it can be pretty much ANY tape (aside from aluminum tape, etc). Regular "scotch" tape will work just as well.

Wrapped aluminium/tin foil (found in my kitchen), rolled into a stick-shape. The tip has to be blunt. Done it twice, within 5 minutes done.

I just folded a paper-clip in half.

brennan: are you talking DS or DS-Lite? I'd think a folded paperclip would turn your DS into a game of "operation" just as any other non-insulated "tool" would.. Or did you wrap it with tape?

Even without tape, a lot of brands of paperclip include built-in plastic insulation to prevent the ends of the metal from dinging up the paper.

With my DS Phat I used a hex screw from a computer. I don't know how to go about determining the size (it's the kind generally used for just about everything inside PCs) but it screws into the SL1 hole like it was meant to. Makes a perfect, snug connection; just screw in until it shorts but not so far you break the motherboard.
Too bad Lite isn't so easy. I don't have one though.

Hello there
I flashed my DS lite with this method, worked great. No fuss short-circuiting right, and no problem with short-circuiting wrongly:)

Oh, I used normal tape, not the electrical type.
