DS Flash Equipment > New DSL flashing method

Some new DSLs will turn off immediately when SL1 is shorted. The solution is to connect SL1 with something that has some resistance, like a pencil lead or a 1K resistor wrapped in masking tape.

The suspected cause discovered by yyjoy is that the firmware chip 25FW203T was changed.

These are good things, but I (and probably other people as well) have resistors with too many bars and I cannot figure out the resistance by looking at it! Fortunately, I do not have DS Lite

Yes. Resistance is not futile in this case.

I don't buy it. others have posted how you just insulate the outer rim of the metal object, because it will touch some metal around the hole and short out. which makes sense. however needing a resistance doesn't make sense.

for the hell of it the picture seems to say 1K ohm resistor (which is brown black red) http://www.dannyg.com/examples/res2/resistor.htm

O, so that's how 5-band code works! I could never figure out 5-band codes before, I could only use 4-band codes before.
