DS Flash Equipment > GBAMP CF help - NDSMP *solved*

#112535 - GoopyMonkey - Sun Dec 17, 2006 7:28 pm

Hey,

Just bought my GBAMP CF, and NDSMP won't work. Here's what I did:

1) Format my CompactFlash to FAT32

2) Update my GBAMP to update.e19

3) Put _BOOT_MP.nds onto my CF card along with NDSMP.GBA

4) Run NDSMP.GBA and press L, R and Select.

5) Turn off my GBAMP and insert my NoPass

6)Turn it on and boot it with my MML.

All I get is two white screens for a few seconds, then it boots my GBAMP into GBA mode. What am I doing wrong?[/list]

did NDSMP defiently install?

what have you put as _BOOT_MP.nds , and is it defiently on the root of the card

You need to have a .nds file called _Boot_Mp in the root of your CF card (maybe you named it like this: _Boot_MP.nds, but the extension was already .nds, if it was like this, just delete the .nds you typed in manually.

I definitely have a file called _BOOT_MP.nds in the root of my CF card. I've tried to use Mighty Max's bootloader, MoonShell and SNES DS. None of them work. They give the error in the above post.

Do you know how to use the Windows command line? Assuming your CF writer is drive I:, please run the following command and paste the content of dir.txt here:
Code:

I:
dir /b > dir.txt

Also try cleaning up the card:
Code:

C:
chkdsk /f I:

OK, did both, here's the contents of the CF card:

dir.txt wrote:
mb_data
BOOT_MP.nds
ndsmp.gba
ndsmp.nds
ndsmp.txt
snesDS.nds
Tetris Attack (E).smc
goomba.gba
smsadvance.gba
Golden Axe Warrior.sms
Wonder Boy 3 - The Dragon's Trap (UE) [!].sms
Sonic the Hedgehog (JUE).gg
shell
_BOOT_MP.nds
dir.txt

I'm not sure that what's on the card would help though...

PS: My CF card drive is drive F.

Just making sure you didn't misspell something.

Anyone else have any ideas?

It really sounds like the _BOOT_MP.nds file isn't being detected.. It could be that your CF card isn't being recognized in NDS mode. When the DS boots in DS mode, Chishm't firmware hack tries to load the _BOOT_MP.nds file. If it can't find one, it boots into GBA mode.

Try defragging the CF card.

Last resort, follow Natrium42's instructions at the bottom of this page and see if that helps.

I've had this problem in the past.. but it was because of something really stupid I did, or forgot to do.. But I can't remember anymore, as I have installed GBAMP on to many GBA MP's to keep anything strait.

Can you use the GBAMP functions in GBA mode?

Lynx, None of that worked, thanks anyway.

HyperHacker, yes I can, it works just as normal.

I'm getting really desperate. I bought this for compatability!

Sorryfor the double post.

Justthought I'd tell everyone thatI've fixed it, I think my 64MB CF card was too small and incompatible. I'm now using a 128MB CF card and using Mighty Max's bootloader. :)
