DS Flash Equipment > Supercard 1.80 doesn't work with homebrew [fixed with 1.81]

#130239 - felix123 - Fri Jun 01, 2007 12:14 pm

I upgraded to 1.80 and most homebrew doesn't work. Beup, DSLiveWeather, AmplituDS etc. Luckily, the launcher in DSO still works. Guess that'll teach me for updating too fast.
Edit: fixed with 1.81

Sounds like they 'upgraded' to the supercard rumble code. haha :p

Which Supercard do you have? Is it possible to downgrade to 1.7 with yours?

Thanks for the warning, as I was getting ready to update, but if homebrew breaks with it then it's not worth it.

Are you sure you can't just patch them with the supercard magic homebrew patcher?? This is what I've done in the past when I upgraded and homebrew then did not work.

If it doesn't work, do you reckon a patch/firware update will be released?

The good news is that some straight .nds files without ndsloader.bin that didn't work before now works; in other words, you don't need to use Supercard Magic Homebrew Patcher again. Weird... I'll need to test what is causing the problem.

The file without the loader was the Submarine Tech Demo.

Stuff that works:
DSO
Bunjalloo
GEOS
DSZhongWen
playDiSmusic
ndsspots
DJ portable DS
all other PAlib stuff

Stuff that doesn't (white screen):
DSLiveWeather
AmplituDS
Beup
Hardball
LemmingsDS
LMP-ng
WiFi lib test
Tetattds
exram
freetype2
reset_scsd

Looks like most of Lick's programs aren't working. The official SC forum admin say it will be fixed next week. In the mean time, use DSO.

I haven't tried it yet due to this homebrew problem, but I'm hoping the QPC saving issue is fixed (for programs like SnezziDS that save to the GBA's SRAM). I know I can just reboot in GBA mode instead, or use DumpSRAM, but it's still somewhat annoying.

Autobooting would be nice, but I don't think it's been implemented.

Yeah autobooting is pretty much a pipe-dream.

And doesn't SnemulDS have better compatibility? It's had many updates and theres even some really nice SNES mouse control with the pen.

I think one of the hacked 1.7 firmwares will autoboot, but obviously 1.8 hasn't been hacked yet, and I believe Chishm and GrizzlyAdams (sp?) have lost interest in the project.

And yes, SNEmulDS tends to be better for most situations, but I still use SnezziDS on occasion.

1.81 fixed it. However, the new feature where files without loaders will work was removed.

I wonder what the status is of supercard rumble now?

I do wish Nintendo would hurry up and send my DS back :(
