DS Flash Equipment > I recieved a Taiwan build Kingston

#131146 - coolbho3000 - Mon Jun 11, 2007 4:30 pm

I was really hoping for a Japanese one, because the Taiwan ones are notoriously slow. I want to use this with the R4DS.

So... should I try to get a replacement or what??

Taiwan cards aren't notoriously slow. The access time his just 1~2 ms slower. Sequential read is similar. Moonshell should play movies fine.

Okay then, I thought that they were absolutely horrible, thanks for clearing that up.

I don't know about Kingston, but MoonShell on my R4 streams a 256 kbps .dpg file (192 kbps 12 fps video, 64 kbps MP2 audio) just fine from a SanDisk 1 GB card made in Taiwan.

Thanks, I won't take it back then.

12 FPS? How can you watch a video at that framerate? :(

Most cel animation is drawn at that frame rate. For instance, Garfield and Friends is drawn at 12 fps, and then each frame is broadcast over five fields to produce a 60 Hz signal. What did you expect? Automatic inbetweening of cels through motion vector interpolation?
