For $30 you can get a Datel Games n' Music in local retailers like Wal Mart or Best Buy. Homebrew support of devices with removable flash memory is much better than built-in, and it is easier to swap out cards than use proprietary built-in media. And, with microSD cards, no extra adapters or things need to stick out of the DS, since the microSD slot is small enough to incorporate into a DS cartridge sized device. The Games n' Music comes with everything you need to get started, the GnM device, a USB microSD reader/writer, and a 128MB (you can get up to 2GB) microSD card.

With DLDI most everything works on it, except DSOrganize requires the bootme method (?) or maybe there's a way to use it without, but I haven't found it yet.

I recommend the R4DS. It has great support behind it and works with just about everything you throw at it.

If you are going to buy a card online, get the R4DS, it's supposed to be better than the GnM, but if you don't want to buy online and you have a retailer that sells it, the GnM is good for most homebrew (the R4's "advantage" is it plays ROMS, but I don't use ROMs anyways).

R4 is also roughly six times faster than GnM, which is important for anything that streams lots of data from the card, such as a video player. (I'll be able to cite this assertion sometime tomorrow.)

But what do Regional Ocean Modeling Systems and Russian Organization for Multimedia and Digital Systems and Ringgit Operations Monitoring System have to do with the decision to purchase a given card? ;-)

:P

I agree that ROMS (no matter what you let it stand for) should not affect your decision on a card, but yeah, the GnM's SD speed is a disappointment, but it only really shows in DPG playback (and Quake DS loading models), so I use my GBAMP for videos.

So it would be the R4 then? i check out some online shops for the prices :D

EDIT: wow the R4 is more priceless then the G6, with 2 gb the R4 is 90 euro and the G6 with 2 gb is 68 :( any better prices out here?

:O

Wow, that's a massive rip-off. Find a better store, you can get them for like $40 USD...

There are cheaper places to get R4, but you'll have to check Retailer Feedback yourself to see which ones.
