DS Flash Equipment > DS Flash Card Yet?!

#45495 - Mr. Picklesworth - Sat Jun 11, 2005 5:54 am

Just wondering... Is anyone anywhere close to, or even bothering to, get a working ds flash card?
As I understand, it's the encryption code... but it's not so long that someone could be stumped for this length of time.

People still haven't cracked Capcom's CPS-2 encryption.

thats blog is old stuff,
http://darkfader.net/ds/
look for hackds, darkfader made up some funky hardware a while back to hook to the pc, the code on that blog is for using that hardware to dump stuff off the carts.

Havent heard much since though.

Evidently the games he dumped (Metroid Demo + SM64 DS) where some really bad misdumps, and not really usable for anything...
Doesnt mean it wasnt a huge ste forward at the time, though.

"misdumps" as in not able to play without the original cartridge (because we don't have a DS flash cart), but all the game data and binaries are in there it seems to me. So it's only a "misdump" if you are interested in playing games you don't own (which = bad)

I heard of a flashcard called Neoflash before, but I think it was just a rumor... the site just displayed a picture, and nothing happened.

#45557 - mymateo - Sat Jun 11, 2005 11:55 pm

No, the neoflash does exist to my knowledge. However, it's the same basic idea as using a PassMe and a GBA flash cart, it's not a standalone DS card.

And though I'm sure the day will be long in coming (if at all), I eagerly await the arrival of a DS Flash Card!

NeoFlash does work, you can but it at Linker4u.com, and it has been reviewed by many websites.

Wow, I didn't knew it was real, so they say it plays commercial roms and all that. But how is that possible if it's just like a passme and flashcard? Unless it isn't..

The commercial ROMs put on the GBA flash card are patched to load assets from the GBA ROM rather than the DS card.

Almost nobody on this forum would do something that can only be used for playing infringing copies of Nintendo's proprietary software.

The thing is pretty expensive though. Considering how many (almost definietly untrue) rumours there are about it, I think I'll wait for a budget flash card...

Hopefully they'll release an article on the technology so that that can happen more quickly.

I think they're more concerned with making money than releasing possibly helpful tech documents.
