how do you know that it's a new version of flashme? or did you totally misunderstand the page it's on?

#53072 - falcon!!! - Mon Sep 05, 2005 10:07 pm

there were some rumors
I tried it but it hasnt changed anything
An update has however been done. In fact the flashme.nds now is bigger (272 KB).

Starting the DS now seems a little smoother, but I doubt it was the bug they fixed.

Looking at the feature list, and everything on the page, it sounds the same to me.

yeah, brakken over at cubehacker (now part of tehskeen.net) reported a "new firmware update" with a link to the same old info/download page for flashme.

I don't see a single change in the features list. unless i find out for sure that there is an improvement, i don't see the point of flashing again. could this be misinformation?

You know there's a difference when the checksums don't match up..

But it could very well be minor bugfixes hence why the site saying nothing..

from the drunken coders news page:

FlashMe: Minor Update
Posted by arog on 2005-09-03

Loopy released an updated FlashMe firmware patch to fix a very minor bug that no one even noticed.

If your DS is flashed already:
- there's probably no real need to update now

- you don't need to short SL1 to update your firmware

If your DS is not flashed already:
- go ahead and flash it if you want
- you do have to short SL1 to update your firmware

If you want to unflash your firmware:
- grab noflashme.nds and flash your firmware

Check out the FlashMe website for downloads & instructions:
http://ds.gcdev.com/dsfirmware/

The code to do the update seems to be compiled differently (perhaps a later version of ARM GCC or devkitPRO was used?), whatever the bug was it must have been minor or I'm sure someone like Loopy would have said something here by now... but I am curious too, as to what got changed.

I'm hoping it isn't a MAJOR bug fix, but if it was, the last thing I would want to read here is what it was and/or how to exploit it.

I dont think that the people doing the firmware updates have anything to do with microsoft... I did the update on my DS and it appears nothing has changed, all is well, although the time it took to flash the unprotected portion did seem to take longer than the last one (from splash screen to no splash screen update).

Well, I do have to say I like the new Icon and description...I don't think I remember them being there before. I like when NDS WiFi downloads have a proper description and icon.
