DS Flash Equipment > newb - got my 2560 and wmb.exe; could not load header.bin

#54872 - curiousmike - Fri Sep 23, 2005 7:05 am

.. and the polarium demo.

c:\ds> wmb -data polariumdemo

Loading "polariumdemo"... error: could not load "header.bin"

Any hints?

The driver for the NIC installed correctly.

That just means the file doesn't exist. If you have polariumdemo.nds then put in in c:\ds\data and type "wmb -data polariumdemo.nds", if it's not a .nds then you have an old release. You can still run it, put the header.bin and other files in "c:\ds\data\polariumdemo\" and run "wmb -data polariumdemo"

I've put the entire wifime.zip file in the root, and in the data folder.

Extracted and in the zip.

c:\ds\wmb.exe
c:\ds\header.bin
c:\ds\wifime.zip

c:\ds\data\polarium.nds
c:\ds\data\header.bin
c:\ds\wifime.zip

But it still "can't find header.bin"

To clarify: This is my first time ever using this.
The aaronrogers.com tutorial shows the first thing happening is "sending multiboot beacons" before it tries to send the binary.

But he's using 1.0, where I'm using 1.4 (maybe it's changed)

Small update.
I downloaded v 1.0, and got much further; it actually loaded wifime onto the DS.

I have the X-ROM 512; i put a copy of NNNN.nds.gba on it, and it worked.

Dunno why 1.4 has the header.bin issue...

Get the frontend, can't give you a link, but I bet firefly links to it.

I had this error for a while, i had to put the wifime.zip in the data direcory, as well as unzip all the files to the data directory (not just the header.bin)
In the tree you listed, the zip is not in the data directory, unless its a typo

then mine works, i type at the dos prompt
>wmb -data "WiFiMe"
and it loads...ps. i'm using 1.4 B1

I've got the zip in the ROOT and the DATA folder.
And, I've got them both unzipped in the ROOT and DATA folder; covering all my bases. Still the same problem.

I actually have my folder setup like this:
d:\ds\wmb\wmb.exe
d:\ds\wmb\data\*.bin/zip/*.nds

It seems inconceivable that me being on D: or an extra directory deep is confusing it, but i'll try moving it up to the root.

.NDS files can just go in d:\ds\wmb\data\

For Wifime, extract the files from wifime.zip to d:\ds\wmb\data\wifime\

#55056 - curiousmike - Sun Sep 25, 2005 3:08 am

Incredible. Still doesn't work. This will be a mystery.

d:\ds\wmb\wifime.zip and all of wifime.zip extracted
d:\ds\wmb\data\wifime.zip and all of wifime.zip extracted, PLUS the meteos.nds demo
d:\dso\wmb\data\wifime\wifime.zip and all of wifime.zip extracted.

Loading "meteos"... error: could not load "header.bin"

My header.bin is 352 bytes.

<--- Dolt.

I didn't postpend ".nds" onto the rom I was trying to upload.

I think it points to a small bug with wmb; instead of saying "can't find header.bin" it meant to say "can't find meteousdemo.nds".

If you are trying to load an e3 demo with WifiMe then the header.bin warning is false alarm, it is indeed trying to say that it couldn't find the given nds file in the data directory. Wmb doesn't need header.bin or any other file from the wifime.zip to load the nds files.
However, I didn't succeed to load the passme hack with wmb 1.4, version 1.0 does work though.

offtopic: freaky, I also use d:\ds\wmb\
