I currently own a Flash Advance 512 and am looking to upgrade. I am drawn to the Super Card SD for its ability to have a huge amount of storage space, but is this a good choice or not? I will most likely be using FlashMe on the DS with this cart if this means anything. Also where is a good place to buy in the US?

I'm also torn.
I have a couple GBA flash cards, but i want a one card solution to run both gba and NDS homebrew, have large storage capacity, and it wouldn't hurt to have some Mp3's on there too.
I was thinking about the M3 card, but is it really all that much better than the movie player?

SuperCard and other CF/RAM combo cards are currently the only thing that can load Nintendo DS and large GBA programs without swapping or rewriting cards.

I think an M3 Adapter is the best choice, but mine is still in the mail, so I couldn't tell you for sure.

Is there any difference between the Super Card SD and the CF?

Could you elaborate a little more on this? I am starting to lean toward the M3 after doing some checking last night. It seems the CF version of the M3 should be in stock soon at Divineo.

what needs to be cracked on teh m3? I thought this thing could play anything right out of the box?
#56305 - tepples - Fri Oct 07, 2005 8:28 pm
First of all, the CF access needs to be cracked so that homebrew GBA and DS programs can read and write the CF card, allowing for a port of chishm's MS-FAT driver.

so the M3 cant save stuff. So it'll run hexen, scumm, etc and stuff but cant save to the cart?
#56316 - tepples - Fri Oct 07, 2005 8:58 pm
It also can't run programs that are larger than 32 megabytes, such as many SCUMM games.

#56320 - MaHe - Fri Oct 07, 2005 9:07 pm
Sure. :)
#56321 - hoagie - Fri Oct 07, 2005 9:08 pm
then why would anyone want the m3 instad of the MP v2?
#56327 - MaHe - Fri Oct 07, 2005 10:22 pm
Well, most of the people uses it (cough)forpiracy(cough) and the movie quality is WAY better. And it's faster.
#56329 - hoagie - Fri Oct 07, 2005 10:28 pm
you can pirate without it....but the movies. ARe we talkin waaaay better? It doesnt seem to make much sence to pay a butt load extra for something you can already do alot cheaper for just a small quality increase

If you really want "movies movies only movies" like on the Starz commercial, then wait for the worldwide release of Play-Yan Micro, expected this holiday season.

Huh, will Play-Yan Micro allow fullscreen movies on DS?
#56409 - tepples - Sat Oct 08, 2005 4:34 pm
"Movies" can't exactly be full-screen on the GBA, which has a 3:2 screen, or the Nintendo DS, which has a 4:3 screen. On the GBA, a 16:9 movie plays in 240x136 pixels, with 12 pixels at the top and bottom lost to letterboxing. On the Nintendo DS, you might get 256x144 pixels. Or you could use the full frame/pan and scan edits, but especially on movies produced before home video revived production for 4:3, that cuts off a lot of important parts of the picture. The PSP, on the other hand, plays in 240x136 scaled to fit the 480x272 screen (for movies on Memory Stick) or 480x272 (for UMD movies).
TV shows, on the other hand, would fit the DS screen, as they're produced for the 4:3 ratio of low-end TVs from day one.

So I decided to shell out for the G6. I back-ordered from kicktrading and hope they will be back in stock soon. Anyone have any experience to share about the G6? It seems to be the most compatible, hopefully it will work with everything.
