DS Flash Equipment > HELP!!! help installing custom drivers over old ones

#56862 - goat_728 - Wed Oct 12, 2005 1:13 am

I am trying to run homebrew programs on my DS and my wireless networking card is an asus and is built in to my motherboard. it is WiFi g compatible and i think the card is on the list, but i cannot pinpoint the model number or anything like that. i would like to install the ralink drivers over my old wireless network drivers seen as i never use the network, but every time i try to do so over the old drivers, windows stops me and says i would not benifit from these new drivers. is there a way i can delete my drivers completely and install new ones without adding new hardware??? thanks.

go into device manager and right-click the device and select update driver. when asked, choose to select the driver from a list and choose view all devices. click have disk and choose the driver. it should let you do it that way, and if not you have to uninstall the driver reboot and install it that way again.

There is no button for show all. when i click to choose the driver to install, it only shows 2 items and there is no show all button.

okay, i finally got the drivers installed, but now they won't replace my old newtork drivers and if i uninstall my old ones, they just keep reinstalling.

you have to choose the drivers manually, if you dont, the old ones will keep automatically reinstall the current driver, thats why i said to do it the first way. if you had chosen the update driver and select driver from a list, dont have it search automatically, it will either show a list of devices, or bring you right to a driver select screen. if it brought you to a list of devices, select choose all devices, that list should have nothing you want...obviously...so select have disk *note this is where you should pick up if it brought you past the hardware list* from select disk, navigate to the driver and select it. install it. it should work, if it doesnt work im going to assume that your hardware is incompatible with the driver, and thats why its not working.
