Bad evening you all!
This afternoon I finally got my wireless network card, so I got started on flashing my firmware..
While flashing my son came to me and smashed his little finger on the power off button.. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
The DS won't boot up anymore. I just get a black screen.
I read on Darkfader.net that you can restore the firmware, but you have to do some soldering. Is there anybody out there with suggestions?
please help me. I'm at my wits' end.

IIRC,
FlashMe has a failsafe included. If the first dunno how many bytes were written you can fix your FlashMe via a gba cartridge with FlashMe on it. Just hold START+SELECT+A+B on powerup.

Flashme was at 1% of uploading.
I tried it anyway though.. Didn't work :(

i think it has to be more then 1% for the failsafe settings to work.
i think it might be dead becasue it now has no firmware :(

I'm a little further now..
I loaded my FlashAdvance 128M Turbo with flashme.nds and booted the NDS while holding A+B+SELECT+START. WHOA! I get a white bottom screen! That's at least something.
I'm guessing it doesn't continue is because the FA 128M never really liked being in my NDS and always stalled on me (It was fine in a GBA).
So, what do I need now? Someone who can help me out with a good Flash card.

In the writer, go to options, and turn off "fix data", then write again the flashme.nds (or flashme_stealth.nds). Now it should work!

Okay here's a little update.
Apparently yesterday very, very late.. while trying the ppflash util from Darkfader, my DS died due to a short. This morning I found out that the fuse (yes there is one) was blown out at the battery side, so first thing I did was restoring it (read: used a tiny piece of wire).
GREAT! the DS has power again!
Now, on to the flashing...
I did everything mentioned here, but still to no avail.
I still get a white bottom screen if I use A+B+SELECT+START while booting and a FlashAdvance card is inserted. However, I tried the original flashme.nds and the one I modified with ndsloader.bin (Let's call that one flashme_binned.nds)
Results:
Original: The screen is white and slowly there are vertical colored lines appearing.
Binned: The screen is white and stays white.
Any suggestions?

I did.
SHouldn't it be named flashme.nds.gba or something?

Sorry, didn't know you were that fast with answering... I reconsidered and deleted my post to send it via PM, as it was not really something new.
Just for the record, here's what was posted before dateq answered:

Have you really done what nman suggested? In FAW 3.2 the "Fix Data" checkbox is in the "Config" menu. Uncheck it and it *should* work, as long as flashme.nds is the only file on your flash cartridge. |
And to answer your question: you should be able to call it any way you want, assuming you're using FAW.

The fact that my FA card doesn't work that well with the DS shouldn't be a problem?
I mean, that was why I got a supercard. because my FA didn't load any games on the DS

Are you sure it's just not working in your NDS and it's not completely dead? There are people who got their 128 MBit FA Turbo card working with a DS, IIRC (vaguely...). And you haven't flashed it together with a multicart menu?

Okay.. I've just uploaded mario kart on the FA. Put it in my GBA. Voila! it works. Well, sort of. I put it in my new NDS, stops at the menu. Put it in my dead NDS. Nothing! Not even the white bottom screen.
I put flashme.nds (With the attached bootloader) on it, and the dead DS gives me the white screen again

Something must STILL be there on the NDS 'cause it responds to the SELECT+START+A+B

Sausage boy has just pointed something out to me.
I have a new DS and to make sure the flashme on the FA card is correct, just try it in the new one.
So I did.. And now I finally know that all my BrickDS is good for, is to throw through a window :(

What you could do...
Is put the old one back in the new box and return it.
Say it's dead on arrival.
I doubt the legality of this so don't do it ;)

Hehehe.. I thought of that too.. Only the require me to put in a name on a piece of paper. Plus my fingerprints are ALLLLLLLLL over it inside and out :)

Only works if you got the same color as your old DS.
