DS Flash Equipment > Does an MMC Card work with M3 SD? [Renamed]

#64546 - fun41 - Fri Dec 23, 2005 1:21 pm

... does a MMC Card work with M3 SD? (ahh don't flame *acquires flame-resistant protection*) I asked this because SD and MMC go into the same slot in most card readers... thinking that it would work the same... therefore thinking that it would go into the M3. Is this true?

SD and MMC are esentially the same thing

So will the MMC card work with the M3 as if it were an SD card? Thanks

Cheap Chinese devices that take SD memory will run the SD card in SPI mode, which is widely documented and thought to be free of patent encumbrance. Virtually all MMC cards support SPI mode. In fact, most MMC cards actually have SD circuitry on them, disabled by a fuse in cards that are packaged as MMC.

I tested 6 different brands of MMCs. None of them is working.

Then perhaps this device runs the card in SD protocol after all and is built based on stolen specs.

Yes that's what I am thinking of it, too.
The M3s SD compatibility sucks very much. It is not possible to use the latest Kingston Elite Pro cards even though it is in there compatibility list.

I believe the M3 Adapter team actually licensed SD from sandisk...

Hmmm, but all SD Devices I know support Kingston SDs and all kind of MMCs.
