DS Flash Equipment > DS Lite flashcart (coming?) [YES, it's coming!]

#74611 - Xtreme - Mon Mar 06, 2006 8:55 am

EDIT: Flash Cart for DS Lite is coming! =)

Neo? Lite

Details:
* RTC
* Flash memory (128Mb up to 1Gb)
* 2Mb SRAM
* High-Speed 8Kb buffer
* DMA 16 bit
* 16Mbit Flash Menu
* Battery AD monitor
* 100% hardware save support
* Size: 57mm X 7.7mm X 23mm

Sorry, but I am not 100% sure that all of these are for real.
Picture 1

My original post:

I wonder if the existing companies will start to look for a ways to make small DS Lite flashcarts. That DS memory expansion is really small.
Maybe it might be possible to fit 2Gbit in that DS Lite flashcart using the G6 flashcart's "tight" design.

I hope to see one comming later. If I buy one of those DS Lite concoles then I must get smaller flashcart so it doesn't stick out so much. Not so portable because of that (DS Lite will just fit in my breast pocket). I have a dream having DS Lite with small flashcart in SLOT-2 and running MoonShell to listen MP3's and watching cartoons and in the SLOT-1 there could be one of my favorite DS game. :)

Btw. If someone makes DS Lite flashcart I don't believe it will be that small as in that picture. Maybe it can be few mm bigger, but not like 10mm, that is too much for the DS Lite desing!! Oh, and I don't even play GBA games with the DS, I have GBA too for that (I just was tinking the old days when the GBA came out and GBC games were huge in the GBA SLOT... now the same happened to the GBA CARTs).

I guess G6 COULD be made (there are USB sticks just as small, even smaller) for DS Lite but ...

- it'd be even more expensive
- not compatible with the plain ol' DS

#74685 - swimgod - Mon Mar 06, 2006 11:56 pm

in other words :P
it will be a while till then because the companies (like G6)
will not make any money till more people have ds lites lol

more likly that when the ds lite comes to america and europe, they will start making ds lite flash carts :P slowly but surly :D

I don't think it's possible to make a flashcard that go into SLOT-1, up until now noone has break the encrytion yet

#74716 - fer - Tue Mar 07, 2006 3:14 am

i share a similar dream Xtreme where a gba flashcart that fits all the way in the DS costs less than $40 bucks. or a cart that fits all the way in slot-1 that runs the code stuff and i play nes and snes off of that.

The card could be like a PassMe (or you could use FlashMe). Boot a loader from the GBA slot, and it should be able to read from the cart directly, without using any encryption. Then you can remove the GBA cart.

#74742 - adrian783 - Tue Mar 07, 2006 7:05 am

i thought it was broken, by a dude in this forum

#74759 - loading - Tue Mar 07, 2006 12:53 pm

martin (the guy behind no$gba) documented the encryption in the latest release of gba/nds-tek as far as i remember.

#74783 - tepples - Tue Mar 07, 2006 5:42 pm

But the decryption keys are still not publicly dumped, even though it's probably legal to dump and distribute such keys under the obvious reading of Sega v. Accolade, Lexmark v. Static Control, and Chamberlain v. Skylink.

I just realized that gbalpha has M2-SD in their lists.
Maybe it's a flashcart SD adapter for DS Lite?

It was there long long long long time ago. I don't think it will be for DS Lite because why would they call it M2, they would call M4 or something. It's a upgrade version of M3, right?

The naming/numbering is not always so logical. For example cellular phones.. manufacturers don't use more more more and more bigger numbers.. instead they use some other methods to name their products.

For example: Nokia 5100 is much newer than Nokia 5110.

So there is M3 and G6.. those words has nothing to do with Nintendo game console names, etc. They are only unique product model names.

Maybe I've missed something, but isn't the image you linked to of the GBA cartridge slot filler?

It is, but it's already been stated that there will be a full-sized memory expansion (for the web browser) and a mini-sized one for the DSLite.

I knew that the memory expansion was planned, but was confused as to if he meant the picture was one of it.

Did you read the 'features' page? It says it will be a ds slot-only sd-card adaptor, with no gba flashcart needed.

#75637 - tepples - Tue Mar 14, 2006 9:00 pm

No, I didn't read the features page. Is there a features page? All I get is a disclaimer page ("In many countries it is legal...") with no links. There is an object at the top that requires a plug-in; is that important?

If it works on unflashed DS systems, then it has to be a nopass.

Here are features and 'tutorial':

I doubt if it's real thing.

Will Opera DS support Macromedia Flash? Will any other web browser for Nintendo DS support Macromedia Flash? If not, why is this flash card maker trying to market to DS owners with a web site that requires a technology that their handheld system's browser does not support? Is it supposed to be some bad tepples-esque pun on the word "flash"?

I wouldn't buy a flashlight from those people.

There were other bad reviews around which seem to have been conveniently removed.

Yes, true. That was only to demonstrate the size of it. That is HQ pic you know.

Yes, sticking less from the NDS console.
I wasn't talking about the physical size. lol
But I must say that it will stick out from DS Lite too much (but I don't have such console).

Don't forget that the M3 would stick out a LOT more on the lite.
