sorry for the topics, anyways i think my problem is that my gbamp isn't going into nds mode, because whenever i try and load a .nds file it says its 2 big
i was wondering if someone in their own words could give me a step by step for turning my gbamp mode into a nintendo ds mode. thanks. i also have wifime if i need that.

Which file are you trying to load?

you require a passme (or similar) to do this though, right?
i own a silver uk ds + mario kart bundle (purchased dec 2005) and did a firmware test last night. the screen appeared dark green (so i assume my machine is firmware v3).
i also own a gbamp2 and 128mb CF card.
until now i haven't attempted to use it for anything other than playing commercial games, movies and gba nes/sms emulators (i haven't even managed to successfully configure the wifi settings yet!).
however now that i've seen the release of 'nitro tracker' i am really keen to do whatever it takes to get it running on my ds asap!
please can someone confirm if i'll have to purchase a passme to do so?

For updating: No
This is small .GBA and can run via the FC-Game option without the need to have a *Me
For running homebrew: Yes

i have updated my fc card with the chirms update version 2, and i flash my card, but then what, when i use wifime to upload a _boot_mp.nds file from the gbamp cf card, it just starts loading the gbamp in gba mode, how do i know its in nintendo ds mode.
#78040 - kirby001 - Tue Apr 04, 2006 8:21 pm
also what type of file should i be using to load from my gbamp cf card, right now i am just using .nds files that i have renamed to _boot_mp.nds

sorry i meant i had a cf card
#78055 - kirby001 - Tue Apr 04, 2006 10:37 pm
also do you need a bootloader to run the gba stuff
so what happens
-turn on ds, go 2 gbamp, run ndsmp.gba and then hit l+r+select and i think this flashes my card
-then i take out cf card, put a homebrew .nds file on the card and change whatever the name of the .nds to _boot_mp.nds. At this point on the cf card i have ndsmp.gba and _boop_mp.nds
-i take out of computer and put into my handheld
-from here i proceed to start wifime and run wmb.exe /data wifime
-program starts ,and sents "multiboot passme" and i start download on nintendo ds
-10-100 it finishes then my nintendo ds starts loading both screens white with one saying nintendo ds, and then NOW THIS IS WHAT IM CONFUSED ABOUT from the two white screens it goes into the gbamp. From my understanding i thought it was suppose to load the .nds file that i previosly changed to _boot_mp.nds. I may be wrong, also am i forgeting something i need on the cf card? like a boot loader, becuase all i have is a _boot_mp.nds and a ndsmp.gba

If you get a Nintendo DS logo followed by a GAME BOY logo, then the PassMe works and the NDSMP works, but the FAT driver isn't finding a valid _boot_mp.nds. You might want to run my CF speed tester to make sure that your card is compatible with Chishm's FAT driver.

ok thanks this might be the problem because i actually have a refurbished cf card (ebay). I ran the 512 subsiquential test and it came up with 9-10 times.
i ran the sequencial 4 kib =26
i ran the sequential 16 kib=89-91
only thing is what do i require for the the firmware to work?
#78115 - kirby001 - Wed Apr 05, 2006 6:07 am
my cf card type says fat32 if that helps in any way
#78117 - kirby001 - Wed Apr 05, 2006 6:29 am
i have had a breakthrough, i have downloaded moonstone and it worked witht he passme and the boot. but what the hell does moonstone do? i think it is a app where i can load .nds files but so far no luck when a click a .nds file, is it my cf card?
#78118 - kirby001 - Wed Apr 05, 2006 6:43 am
ok im really sorry for wasting all your time, apparently when i renamed the file i would name is "_BOOT_MP.NDS" when i should have been naming them "_BOOT_MP" without the .nds becuase i gues that already implied, you know people should say that

It might be because your Windows' explorer is configured to hide file extensions while everyone else had that turned off.

lol,
........................
anyway,
moonshell does a lot of things,
it has built'in things like movie player and music...
and you can launch other ds files from its file explorer :)
well moonstone is always a good name for something that changes colors,
but moonshell is it's name :D

Well I've finally received my PassMe (thanks Lynx!) and have NitroTracker running (which for me IS THE BEST THING EVER!).
My only dilemma now is whether to Flash the machine or not.
On one hand i'm tempted to as it would be much easier to transport around than having to keep taking the PassMe out all the time...
...but on the other hand i'm scared of bricking the unit :(
Is there anyone else out there who has a GBAMP and Passme but has been too afraid to Flash the machine?

It's better. :-p It uses the full screen, memory and CPU power to get higher resolution and better frame rate.

most people who bought the equipment intented to flash it when they ordered it(like me :P)
but i guess there are a FEW,
but then again those few are mainly people with a lite,
and have heard the camp fire stories of the ds lite bricking its self...
(if you don't know what im talking about the ds lite, it was reported that new ds lites bricked them selfs because they turned off when the sl1 was briged :(
so sad...)

Hi there, I thought I would just ask my question here instead of opening a new thread. Anyways I have a GBAMP V1 which works when I have the passme inserted but when I flashed it, it won't boot up to DS mode without the passme. Is there any reason for this?
Thanks
#80477 - tepples - Sat Apr 22, 2006 4:58 pm
The GBAMP v1 doesn't have its own PASS/DSBooter header; it uses the header of the inserted GBA Game Pak. Try A+B+X+Y+power on, and see if that puts you in DS mode after you've installed Chishm's NDSMP.

Aren't you only supposed to use that on V2?
#80758 - clicking - Tue Apr 25, 2006 8:21 am
Chishm's firmware hack works with V1, as does all homebrew I tried so far. Just doesn't work with flashme even if I hold A+B+X+Y and power on, only get white screens. Oh well, should be getting another cart soon.
#80759 - HyperHacker - Tue Apr 25, 2006 8:27 am
Does it still work in GBA mode? I could have sworn I heard that using the firmware hack on V1 would brick it.
#80777 - clicking - Tue Apr 25, 2006 2:56 pm
Hmm.. never tried GBA mode since I changed the firmware..
Just tested it in GBA, works just as it did before with the older firmware.
