DS Flash Equipment > WIFIME: EDIMAX EW-7128G IS INCOMPATIBLE

#82843 - nonamer66 - Wed May 10, 2006 6:57 pm

This network card is incompatible as it has the rt2561 chipset so has there been a solution yet to fix this. I just got this card on the basis that it was on the list of compatible cards for wifi me. I get the error code 10 which states "This device cannot start"

any solutions for this card???

Missed this post somehow, just got the Edimax EW-7128G and it isn't working for me either. Device won't start...

Anybody solve this or did I just blow $30?

Yeah, many never cards have RT2561 "turbo" instead of RT2560 :(
I think there is no solution yet...

Dammit, I just can't seem to keep up with these ever-changing chipsets. I am thinking about getting rid of any suggestions for any WiFiMe-compatible cards altogether! :(

Thanks for trying...

How difficult is it going to be to update the driver?

Extremely difficult for me... I only wrote the guide. Tim Schuerewegen (firefly) wrote the driver but I think he's abandoned the project completely.

Didn't your guide used to suggest the Encore EN-LWIG? Is that no longer compatible as well?

Did anyone find a solution?
I just brought the same card to find out I can't install the firefly drivers for it :(

There are a number of cardswhere the manuf. did not change the part num ber but changed the chipset. I have the following which both work:

Quote:

CNet CWC-854 PN:18-1D-WC85 H/W: Ver:D
BELKIN F5D7010 version 3000

One has the rt2500 and the other has rt2560 chipset but both work with the rt2560 driver. My guess is that any in the rt2500 family from the rt2500 to the rt2560 will work, but I have not tried them all. Of course most cards do not tell you what chipset they use so there is not much help there.
