DS Flash Equipment > Modified M3-miniSD (updated 2006/10/23)

#83681 - Xtreme - Wed May 17, 2006 8:53 pm

I have had this idea for such a long time so I started on making it even smaller.

Results here

The case modification is not ready yet, tough.. I am going to make it even smaller and paint it with silver.

EDIT:
Here is the unfinished project: project address

No, it was bigger operation. I could post some pics later when I'm at my own computer.
I used my mini tools to cut from everywhere.

EDIT: I have done 50% of "guide".. I will post the link here when it's ready. Stay tuned to see how hard can some small changes be.

LOL you're more anal than I am. The 1mm didn't bother me on the minSD m3, but if you can get it down to be flush with the DS lite, then lmk how you do it. :)

Did you really say 1mm.. it's far more than 1mm.

Has anyone disassembled the DS Lite's GBA-rumble, or memory expansion? I'm very interested to know the precise heights.
It might be that the rechargeable battery doesn't fit..
Maybe there are more expensive and smaller ones that are usually molded to the main boards (or maybe they exist, but are not rechargeable)?

One solution could be to change that miniSD holder to microSD holder and to use microSD cards instead. Biggest one these days is a 1Gbyte microSD card.

Or just to wait for NDS slot card adapters (using microSD) *such small devices might not never happen?*. Those could stick out just as bit (doesn't mater) if they were made very tight. Or just hacked firmware that makes it possible to read miniSD cards from adapter (in DS-slot).

It's about 4mm taller than miniSD adapter cart. ..so I don't think it's possible.

Well, comparing the M3 to a standard GBA cart.

If i can get my hands on the rumble pack, I can pull it apart. I have the gba y tip driver.

Haha, I forgot this project.
I have a new job and it's taking all my freetime.
That case hack has been almost final, but missing the paint. I must find a place that sells that paint and finish the project. :)
