I used the picto chat thing to find my firmware version. I turns out it's a v1 so I bought a passme 1. Now the problem is that when I try to open the flashme file on my cart, the screens turn white. I put the flashmev7 on the cart. Is that the right file for me to run on my v1 ds? What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help.

Have you tried pre-pending a loader to the flashme.nds file?

What is pre-pending a loader? Sorry, i'm pretty new to these things.

Tiff how long ago did you guy your DS? I'm assuming its one of the original silver coloured models right?
#86206 - dualscreenman - Mon Jun 05, 2006 1:35 pm
He already said it was version one. The white screens mean the PassMe works. So there is no doubt in my mind that he has the right PassMe. The problem is loading the flashme file off his card. Could somebody link him to DSLazy? I have to go.

What about Gaim DS? Gaim pretty much has support for all IM programs. |

No problem, probably should have explained it in the post. Mostly I just mean this...is it the NDS from the site, directly, with no modification you are flashing to the flash cart? If so, it's possible that your GBA flashcart's software is screwing up the NDS in some way (newer NDS homebrew should work even without a loader if the flashing software isn't messing with them, but you can't be too sure).
Go here to Darkfader's site and download ndsmall.bin, part way down the page in the 'DS Development Tools' section. Then, assuming you are using Windows, open a command window (you can do this by pressing the 'Start' button, picking 'Run' and typing command into the window that pops up).
If you don't know DOS commands, it's probably easiest to put ndsmall.bin and flashme.nds onto your desktop (I know XP's command window starts there, I think it does in 98 + 95 as well). Anyway, type the following:
copy /b ndsmall.bin + /b flashme.nds flashme.ds.gba
and then try flashing that onto your flash cart, see if this fixes it. Alternatively, if you have MoonShell, it comes with a program in the wintools folder called dsbuild that if you drag an NDS onto it it'll create a ds.gba file for you.

Yea, there's probably something wrong with my cart. I have an efa cart that I use mostly for gba stuff. I'll try to flash my ds with my supercard when I get a minisd memory card. It should be coming anyday. ^_^ But if that doesn't work, I try 9th Sage's advice. Thanks for the help!

the efa cart should work fine. that's what I used to flash my nds. iirc I just added the loader and unchecked any menus and other fancy stuff.

I've tried that too with no luck. I'll let you guys know if the flashme works with my supercard when I get my mini sd memory card. I'm pretty sure flashme works on a supercard. I know my efa cart can play .nds files so this cart wasn't an entire waste of money although it has trouble saving for a lot of them. But that's another problem for another day.

Indeed, Lynx, I think warez talk results in a ban. Anyway, it should work if you prepend a loader such as ndsmall.bin (Is that still safe?)

I flashed my DS with my EFA linker 1 of 256mbit.
It did require me to append ndsloader.bin first (thus also renaming it to ds.gba).
Worked fine for me (with wifime).
#86857 - bessiebenny - Fri Jun 09, 2006 11:09 pm
Some flashcarts just simply require renaming the flashme.nds file to flashme.bin
(No need to append the ndsloader)
Then it should load up fine. nds extension caused a white screen on my EZ4 for the flashme.

I've tried renaming my file to flashme.bin but it still didn't work. I guess i'm going to try to prepend a loader.
By the way, what is warez? Sorry if I was doing it. I don't want to get banned.

"Warez" refers to infringing copies of digital works. See wikipedia:Warez. On forum.gbadev.org, "warez talk" refers to discussion of running commercial games using GBA or Nintendo DS compatible flash equipment.
