OffTopic > L trigger, DS lite

after playing metroid a bit on my lite, my L button actually stopped working properly, the actual mechanism moves the right way still, but it only registers half the L 'click's i do. What can I do?

Call Nintendo.. I don't think there's an unofficial fix for this.

Yep, that's exactly what to do. I had a GBA SP that did the exact same thing. On the exact same button. Freaky.

The same thing happened to my original DS. If you have FlashMe not stealth, install FlashMe stealth, and then send your DS back for warranty repair.

well strangely now it's working alright. If it happens again I'll follow the advise

Yep, my Phat has this problem, but it's out of warranty. >_< Sometimes it works, other times not. If I ever come across the required tools I may open it up, try to fix that, and add one of them fancy debug buttons.

What is this debug button you're talking about? I have a DS open at the moment while I'm repairing the card slot, so I would be interested in trying this out.

Supposedly near the X and Y buttons ("R01" and "R02") is a third pad, "R03", that you can wire a button to; dev kits would have one here for debugging. It shows up in the register like the X and Y buttons.
