OffTopic > MAME on GBA ?

#17421 - XXNewbyXX - Sun Mar 07, 2004 8:26 pm

I've been told that MAME can be run on GBA is this fact or fiction?
Can the smaller MAME roms be converted to enable gameplay on GBA ?
How? Is there some software for a newby ?
please include any links
I have a writeable cart and been using MAME for a while.

The Game Boy Advance CPU isn't nearly fast enough to emulate most MAME games. MAME strives for accuracy and relies for speed on Moore's Law (density of integrated circuits doubles every 18 mo). You'll usually want to port a disassembly of the original game to ARM assembly (this takes work), though you may need the original ROMs to make the graphics.

www.geocities.com/rgbArcade might be what you've been told about. It's not a Mame port, but it does emulate old arcade games
