(Random sentence to increase size of post for no apparent reason whatsoever: Did I mention that once I took ritalin (Aspergers syndrome) and tried to kill myself? Moral: Nothing works on everyone.) |
(Random response because I'm too lazy to get up and go to bed instead: Ouch, that sucks. I used to take ritalin, but had to stop a few years ago because it tends to affect adults differently. It started making me so jittery and wired I felt like I had drank a gallon of pure espresso. It let me focus *really* well, but too bad I couldn't sit still at the PC longer than 5 seconds before bouncing around the room - literally.)

(Well, it was dexanphetimines that made me try and kill myself, but rittalin was about to do that when I stopped taking it.)

This is what Ritalin does to you. I'm on Strattera now.
Web server for windows: Apache.
Back to crypto: No, I haven't tried SSL on winapache.

Many apologies in advance for venturing off-topic again. All you guys who took Ritalin for Asperger's; was it presenting in combination with ADHD or something? I'm trying to adjust my picture of what is happening here and finding it interesting that a 'pure' Asperger Syndrome person needs help to concentrate. (We have Asperger's in the family.) Tepples: I suppose this should be in Off-Topic, but I wasn't sure the relevant people would see it there. Just delete my post if it's out of line.

Maybe a support forum would be good .
We could go there to help each other with our syndromes/problems.
I don?t take any of that stuff but I am on Paxil - an anti depressant
It really has saved my family/marriage.
I was a REAL streesed out ass before I satarted taking it 3 yrs ago.
Now I?m just an ass. :)

tepples: I'm on Strattera now too. It's been a HUGE help, I can actually get stuff done now.
gb_feedback: Although I figure I probably have same minor Asperger-like symptoms, I don't really have Asperger's. I took ritalin (and now strattera) just for plain-old ADD (non-H).

It was initially presenting as ADHD before Asperger syndrome was widely diagnosed. But it turns out that Asperger syndrome and ADHD respond to the same sort of stimulation, either directly (with stimulants such as Ritalin? methylphenidate or Adderall? amphetamines) or indirectly (with norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors such as Strattera? atomoxetine).

You certainly come across as being focused. Tell me, do you take your Strattera™ at weekends too?
In my day they hadn't invented these conditions, so I know at least two people who clearly have Asperger but don't know it.

Hey, I'm glad to see that people with ADHD managed to be coders! My kid has ADHD and he's taking ritalin. He is in 3rd grade and has some problems with math. He just can't memorize his add/sub/mul tables. He is a video game maniac though and I hope he can eventually have a career in this field since he loves playing video games so much. And I could teach him how to code but, has lots of problems memorizing...
Anyways...
Straterra isn't available in Canada so we can't try it. Is it expensive?

It's an illusion. You don't see the fact that I have slashdot.org, ddrei.com, PIRACY-DOT-COM, nesdev.com, and bemanistyle.com boards open in separate tabs at the same time I read gbadev.org or that I frequently open several threads at once. On the internets, nobody knows you're a dog.

Yes. As with any reuptake inhibitor, you're supposed to take atomoxetine regularly.

I've never been any good at memorizing. Sometimes if I use a piece of info often enough it'll just stick (like my social security number, for instance). But I can only seem to memorize stuff as a side effect of using it, not as an intentional thing. I tend to use API references a LOT when coding ;)

I know quite a few people who suffer from ADD & depression. I seem to attract people like this for some reason. It seems fitting that a programming forum would have quite a few sufferers of ADD.
Personally I suffer from manic depression, which these days is called Bipolar disorder.
Rather than take drugs, I prefer to take vitamin suppliments and the like.
Of course, there is always beer, which is sometimes my only saviour!
EDIT: I don't recommend beer as a way of dealing with depression, as more often than not it makes things worse..

Heh, yet another condition I've had to deal with.

Ever thought... Should I... Should I push someone off? < Obvious ripoff and not ashamed of it.
I think people with ADD, ADHD and Aspergers can think more logically than most people.

And I am just plain mad.
