Not exactly relivent to this forum, but so usefull I thought youd like to know..

Google is going to give people free hosting:

http://pages.google.com/

Quote:
100mb of space
No ads
Nifty url
Google's own WYSIWYG editor
Direct image linking is allowed
Google's servers are really stable and fast
Free of course

If this turns out to be as fantastic as their Gmail service is, I cant wait :)

It has a waiting list. How many months long will the waiting list be?

You need a Gmail account. Now that the Gmail invite spoolers have been shut down, how much does it cost to move to a supported country (which does not include Canada or the United Kingdom) and get a mobile phone in order to sign up?

I had a shot at using that... seems a bit limited and pants... But if you're looking for a quick project page, it'll be dog-gone useful. And miles better than Tripod.

About the waiting list thing: I tried it from my GMail account, after accepting the terms, the thing burst into life straight away.

If anybody would like a invite to you-know-what so they can have a go with googlepages, PM me.

I can host small projects on fireslash.net

FTP access... I've got subversion running too. Just fire off an email to fireslash@beyondunreal.com

My dad has a web hosting account, plus I have a decent account with unlimited subdomains, 20GB bandwidth, cgi/php on subdomains; although with a limit of 700MB space; unlimited redirects, databases and mailboxes. Not to mention the 'application vault' that allows me to install phpBB, b2evolution blogging engine, and various web applications at the click of a button.
